ap1 vs sti

a s2000 (stock) will never keep up with an STI (stock). even in a perfect race. UNLESS the s2k driver is good and the sti driver launches crappy, misses 2nd,3rd, and 4th. then yea i might believe it. but again what are the chances of that happening?

The Honda s2000 would have been a track monster if it had 250 HP and even 210 torque
Autox course...the s2k dominates...this year's Nationals was the first in 6yrs where an s2k didn't take 1st and that is running against C4 Vettes, Sky Redlines and Solstace GXPs. In fact the s2k used to be in the same class as the 350z...but we were beating them and several other new sports cars so baddly that they moved the s2k into a faster class just to give the new cars room to play.
Tighter courses, again the s2k holds it's own...I regularly run with the Corvette club on a tight street track...out of 20+ Vettes (mostly C6s) I normally am quicker than all but 3 or 4 prepped cars on r-comps...and I do that on street tires. Road & Track compared the previous Nismo 350z and the s2k CR at the Waterford Hills Road Racing 1.4mile course and both cars turned in nearly identical times.
Longer courses, the s2k keeps up with some cars with a ton more HP. Car & Driver did a nice test a few months back at VIR's 4.2 mile course. The s2k CR was more than a sec quicker than the Challenger SRT8, Elise SC, over 2 sec faster than the G37 Sport, 4 sec ahead of the new STi. And was within a sec of the ISF. Yes, there were a ton of cars that were quicker...but I also look at the fact that the CR is basically 10yr old technology (it's suspension is not far off of the original MY00-01 AP1 s2k) keeping up with some of the latest technology. 10yrs ago, what would you have to buy to keep up with an s2k on a road course?
Comparing the faster SCCA road course classes (T2 & T3)...yes, the s2k used to run T2 and was bumped down to T3 since it wasn't competitive. Reason: that class allows mods that make big HP differences for the other cars in the class but do nothing for the s2k.
What are you talking about not a track monster?
Explain. Because if you bring out newer z's and evos and sti's and put yourself in the same category as awd cars for some reason, i don't know.
What i DO KNOW, is the s2000 keeps up and/or bitchslaps all these cars around the track. So don't talk too much out of your ass.

What's actually funny is when owners of both cars come here and tell you which is faster. Who are you suppose to believe? In this case owners of STi's both stated a S2000 can not keep up yet we have S2000 owners who have no experience owning a STi say they pull on them all day. I'd side with people who actually owned both IMO.

I mean you're sitting here denying quarter mile timings, trap speeds, Street roll videos.
If it is a drag strip, then if the car isn't running meth, then it isn't a track monster.

No...he is asking what I asked. What do you call a track monster? A car that goes in a straight line well on a drag strip or a car that turns well on a race track?
