my sti- cai, catless dp, exhaust, fp, ap v2, protuned (310awhp, 348awhp on dynojet)

my s2k- j's header, j's 70rr (241rwhp, 172wrtq on dynopack)

even with my j's intake and tuned added now still NO chance at my stg 2 sti.
How's the top end in the STI? I've never driven them, tell me more about like the stock STI top end, i already know they're bad ass from launches but like people tell me all this stuff about it even without driving one.

STI had 20g turbo, intake, exhaust, wastegate and conservative tune.

an s2000 in n/a form is playing a very hard uphill battle against the Evo/STi/other factory turbocharged cars with an engine/turbo combo worth crap

but once the FC2x is force inducted then it comes who has a deeper pocket
This is not just related to the s2000 vs turboed 4 cylinder but any car against them, Well depends what type of Turboed cars in my opinion because the AWD turbos well when I had an EVO 8 around 4th gear it would start losing it's balls. The launch came out vicious but than again the top end faded but than again mine was stock.

ya the Evo def. "dies down" relatively speaking after the shift into 5th gear. the aero is too crappy, and the gear is too long, and the HP isn't enough to propel the car quick enough at that kinda speed. same goes for the STi, its 5th and 6th gears are too long, even after the 07's gearing revision.

my 05 STi engine with turbo back and tune still had trouble up top. the midrange was great, but as with all STi's, the stock turbo just doesn't flow enough air up top. you could hit a peak of 300whp but the HP up top isn't as strong as the Evo's, but neither is the Evo's midrange as awesome as the STi's, when both cars at at the initial bolt-on point. pick your poison.

don't get me wrong, the Evo/STis can be amde to be batshit fast all the way up to 150mph or what have you, but compared to its acceleration under 100mph, with the crazy short gearings for the lower gears, it is much slower, unless they're making so much power (mebbe a motor revving to 9k with a huge turbo boostin' 35+psi) where longer gear ratios would be benefitial

with my bolt-on IX, my 05 bolt-on Sti, and now my X, i always start losing after 100mph against a car that's similar in acceleration under 100mph (from a roll) (tuned 335is, e92 m3, 997 carrera s, etc)

i think you missed the point of the post.

Of course a modded turbo car will outrun an n/a 2.0 ?

but he stated that he KNOWS his s2000 can't "keep up" with his Stock STi.
NOT TRUE unless you Run from a dig.

it sucks because you get threads like this with people telling you your stock(ish) s2k can beat up on an STI, so then you go around thinking that, and when you finally come up to one, your confident, and then get bent over backwards from a stock STI, then you sit there thinking somethings wrong with your car the rest of the way home.

Well everyone has an opinion you know, in my opinion people should never make comments against well performing cars, the STI being one of them until they actually race them and know clearly what mods if any both teams have. but yeah you're right most cyber racers come and mislead the folks that just bought a new car or never raced before, so the first time that they do encounter such a car and get left in the dust they start beating themselves about it lol

btw, does anyone know how the gearing is in an 06 WRX, non-sti, the 5speed? I raced my friend (before gears) he had accessport and an intake, i had him on the jump, but he crawled up on me after each gear, but as soon as i hit 5th, he flew past me.. it was crazy, 5th gear on stock gearing AP1, im not sure what mph that is, i wanna say around 110?
