Sometimes I feel as if we are in full on deja vu mode, atleast one of these threads pops up every 4 - 6 months (S2K vs LS1 debate). It's a dead horse that's already been beaten more than its fair share.

Not true. Auto LS1 F Body's run similar times to their 6 speed counterparts - mid to low 13's.
In theoretical land. I have seen them run 14's before, but that's not to say that is always the case. Could swing either way IMO.

Looking at your avatar, you live in Colorado Springs, which the track near you is probably > 5000 ft elevation, which would make low 14's a little more believable (although still a little on the slow side). A stock S2K would probably run high 14's at that elevation. At near sea level, a bone stock auto LS1 F-Body is more than capable of mid - low 13's in the 1/4 mile (especially the later model 01-02 ones).

I was under the impression that the autos are faster in the quarter.
They run similar times to a 6 speed, and are definitely more consistent, however, they usually trap a little bit less.

Pfffft. I WATCHED my friend run a 13.1 with just tires in his 110K mile 98 Z28 Auto and with the junk tires it came on he ran a 13.3@105. stock + weld-in junk muffler.

I've WATCHED them run 15's before, but that would be due to elevation and poor driving. S2k's run 15's here too.

I'm saying that you can say that THEORETICALLY any LS1 should run low 13's, but the fact is that's not always the case. We can all pretend that it's a rare occurence that someone doesn't know how to drive(and that we are perfect drivers), but we all know how that works out. I'm not saying that an S2k is faster, but rather that the margin of error is well within the believable range.

Yeah, there is a such thing as a slow LS1, lol. Some guy came in the shop a while back saying he made 27X rwhp out of his A4 Z28 and wanted to know why. It coulda been one of those kind that you ran. Very possible. If the car is not in a good state of tune things wont go well for it.

You beat a terrible driver. An LS1 Camaro is a good race with a SC'd S2K. An LS1 is much faster and quicker than stock or near stock S2K's. You cannot argue with facts, although I'm sure some will try.
