AP2 vs LS1 fbody

My car is not set up for x-cross. Its factory stock (well it was the last time I x-crossed it) and no F-Body can stand a chance. No F-Body in factory trim is as satisfying as an S2000. My father has owned F-bodies most of his life and he can assure you that no F-Body is or was what an S2000 is to the car world.
The S2000 was released on the year 2000 here in the USA, now very few have over 100,000 and its rare to find because they mostly are not driven daily but you can ask any of those owners in here and they will let you know if their S2000 have any problems while passing the 100K mile mark.
"I am guessing you have not come across many S2000s set for auto x."

Hell!! a Miata is more satisfying and fun than any F-Body. Ask real drivers not your neighbor with the mullet.

1."satisfaction of driving" You may anjoy the twisties. I have no twisties where I live. To me satisfaction is being able to accelerate half-way decent and handle ok. Not handle half-way decent and accelerate ok. I perfer something 300+whp under 3500#. So I got a WS6.
PS, the stock S2000 stops 60-0 4' sooner than my WS6. It pulls .02G better on the skid-pad. The only real difference is in the slalom speed.
So yeah...I will take my extra 5mph trap speed and second lower ET. You can keep your 5-6mph better slalom. Considering that I have very few twisties, and those I DO have are not left-right-left-right's. Slalom doesn't matter one bit to me. Your .02 G is VERY! HEAVILY! overshadowed by my 350# tq. when it comes to playing on the few corners I DO encounter.
2. "Quality" The S2000 clutch and its differential are pure SHIT. Every car has weak-points. Get over it, its mechanical. I see TONNES of "my new S2K's clutch slips and "I blew my diff". Its mechanical...shit happens.

^oh...thats just PAGE ONE of your forum's "under the hood" section. GREAT! reliability man...WAY TO GO! Just SLAM AWAY at GM with your engine fires and valve tapping, huh? Didn't even need to look hard. Wonder what's on "page 2"?
3. "image" I guess since I have a mullet you are a limp-wristed anime-worshipping asian kid?

4. Why am I here? Because it is a free world and not all S2000 owners have the hardcore dose of little-man syndrom that you seem to.
5. GM using other manufacturer's stuff...
...who cares? Aston Martin uses a T56 tranny...do I go around saying my car has an Aston Martin tranny b/c they use a GM tranny? Get over it.
6. Your HIGHLY INCORRECT RELEASE DATE:
It was released in 1999. 3400 of them were sold that year. Pathetic. You actually own one and don't even know when it hit american soil.
7. GM's financial state:
Why should I worry about this? I really could care less. Their problem is not my main concern. I don't owe GM a dime and they don't owe me. GM parts are still cheaper than Honda parts and thats all that should concern you or I.
8. What the F-body was to the car world...
I guess you missed out on all the classics involving them. Smokey and the Bandit among others. The F-body and Mustang were the 2 key players in the largest, most blood-thirsty shootout in the automotive world for decades. Oh...what did the S2000 do for the car world? Sorry, must have missed all the movies, books, ect. about it. DANG, what a shame. OH! maybe because it has been around for 8 years (7 year models) and the F-body has been around since the 60's. OH! DANG! Maybe THAT's why the F-body has such a different connotation for the automobile world...it is a legend with a history and now a new future. The S2000 is...a sporty japanese car that has never sold more than 10,000 units in any production year in America.
Right....
You post a few threads where the S2000 have had problems and you are all of the sudden right.
You are so pathetic, tell me something I don't know. Im still right, you don't look at the whole picture just at the little detail that helps you live your lie.
You don't care about GM financial situation? Oh thats right, it hurts your agument.
In the little time Honda (1958) and Toyota (1957) have being here they have accomplished a lot through quality products. (Something you don't know about).
You talk as if I claimed the S2000 was the perfect vehicle, is not and like you said the diff in the earlier years was weak, they have corrected the problem but my point is that my door panels don't rattle after 10K miles, my window still working after 15K miles, I don't need a new radiator hose after 25K miles, so on and so on. I've lived it unlike you that can only speak from one side of the story. Please don't come at me with details I already know. Im glad you are here so you get educated a little.

Who the fudge cares about what the S2000's or F-Body's impact on what the automotive world is?
Enjoy your cars for what they are. People have their own opinions, and guess what, most of the time they will differ from your own. Now shut the hell up and get into the "335 on the freeway" thread and enjoy the Battle Royale before it gets locked.

Hey we can run for fun, I don't care
I'm not out here saying the s2000 is the fastest car ever, I'm just telling what happened the other night. Several runs and I pulled each time. You have to be stock and an A4 though
If you're poppin' a 12bolt in there I doubt you're stock.
Maybe he had a couple hundred lbs of something in the trunk
Oh he did have a passenger. Could that make enough difference? Me with little to no gas, maybe a fully tanked up fbody with 2 people in it, maybe some junk in the trunk, and maybe I can win from a roll?
Doubt it was a drivers race, it was auto so all he had to do was floor it from a roll. You can select the gears somewhat in those transmissions cant you? I know he shifted down a gear for certain before we started one of the races, so I know he was prepared and in the appropriate gear (I would hope).

Guys, don't turn this into a Honda vs. GM fight!
I've being in an 01' S2000 that reached 163 MPH sotck, the owner still has the tape somewhere.

Radiator hose? Dude, wtf? I had stock hoses on my 95 TA after 170K miles and 10 years.
Door panels rattle? No...
Dude, your argument or whatever you are trying to prove makes no sense.
No, I dont care about GM's financial issues any more than I care about your delusions of grandeur.

Although improbable, it's not impossible for well driven S to beat an LS1. Highway runs should favor the S down low and mid range, but 100+ will be all LS1 territory. Digs should go to Ls1's.
