Boxster Type S
Hey Angel,
I thought you were coming out to the track this year with the S2000? If so, we can try to get in the same run group I guess. I just saw the tentative schedule for Heartland Park on Tuesday night, but it is tentative because HPT just came under new ownership (the guy who owns the track in Chicago has purchased HPT along with the SCCA). Supposedly this means good things for the track, maybe even a resurfacing!!!
However, none of the car clubs know for certain yet whether or not their booked dates will be honored. I believe we have dates in April, June and September booked, but I'm still waiting on the details. The late April event is a tri-club event, but no reason that you couldn't come out for that, all it costs is money.
BTW, thanks again for the tinter recommendation, time to drive...

I got my ass handed to me by a Boxter S-I was in my automatic G35 sedan though. Wish I had my S2000 that night-it would have been a diff. story (I hope) He killed me a lot worse than I thought he could of so I don't think anyone should take a race lightly with one.
Funny, the new Car and Driver Magazine rates the "Blow Dryers? and guess what S2Ken, of the 12 catagories rated, one is VALUE, s2000 A NICE BIG 10, now class is over! Also read the recent JD Powers review of quality, Porsche had gone south with Mercedes, the Japs now lead the pack.
OMG - SMU1976 is back for another beating!
Car & Driver - Yes indeed the latest C&D rates the Honda S2000 as the best convertible, and of course their rating scale used to determine this is full of SUBJECTIVE criteria like "Value". Hmmm let me see, everyone in the world must place the same "Value" on everything right? Therefore, all of our values must be the same as C&D right? LOL. Well, whatever. Fine review, interesting comparison but doesn't prove a thing other than C&D's opinion. I was suprised by how poorly they rated the Z4, BMW must not be spending the advertising dollars with C&D anymore.
If SMU had come in here and just posted something about C&D I'd figure that he was using the latest auto rag to try and support some 2 year old argument he can't get over, but then SMU says something weird, he says Porsche is falling off in quality. Hmmm maybe we better check the FACTS on that one shall we?
Straight from the JDPower Website:

Porsche ranked #1 car company. (Porsche also ranked #4 in the nameplate category behind Lexus, Infinit and Buick, Honda ranked #9)
I do agree with SMU's statement that Mercedes is falling off, but to be fair, that was due to 2 particular vehicles, the ML and one other I can't remember at the moment.
So once again SMU's statements are shot down when the FACTS are revealed. Now before he comes back to spout some more negative comments about Porsche, maybe he should pick up a copy of AUTOWEEK.
In particular:
http://autoweek.com/specials/2003_ambest/A...RICASBEST03.pdf
In which SMU will read that the BEST SPORTS CAR IN AMERICA, as voted by Autoweek readers and Internet visitors is the PORSCHE 911. The S2000? 5th place behind the Boxster at #4.
What does that prove? Probably nothing other than C&D and Autoweek readers/Internet users don't agree.
It is pretty obvious SMU doesn't agree with anything I say, otherwise why would he be compelled to come back and pull this post out of the archives???
