That was the point of my original post in this thread that on any given day a stock Boxster S and a stock S2000 are going to be a close race and it could go either way. A modified Boxster S should beat a stock S2000 and a modified S2000 should be a stock Boxster S, so why Mr. Laporta wants to race his modified S2000 against my bone stock Boxster S is beyond me. He should win. If he won it would simply be the expected result. If he lost, well he'd have some explaining to do and suffer some embarassment. I don't like to embarass my friends (except for football videos) so I don't actively seek to race people I know. I did that once in high school with a former friend of mine and the guy was a dick to me the rest of our senior year, and he had been the one wanting to race because he got a new firebird formula and thought he was hot $hit.

Yeah, the video is pretty funny... if you want to see all of them, check out http://www.smiley.net/greystone.htm for more pics and vids

Enjoy!

yep any given day any car can beat another. My point the whole time to mr smiley which baffles me even more about him being scared to race. My mods really dont add enough power to make that much difference. what I find best about them is they smooth out the car and give more grunt low end. The car is so efficient the only mods with real hp implications are fi and nos.I joked with mr smiley a few times about how fast the car is with the new mods and he took the bait as witness to him having no faith in his racing ability or his 914 err boxster to even race me to find out. I guess he did not want to blemish his perfect win record againsts honda civics and preludes to take on the s2000 oh well one born every minute is what I say. How you gonna race me when you are selling your car? Will it even be around in the Spring? Why mod something if the mod doesn't do anything worthwhile? Sounds like throwing money away, you must be trying to take after Tim...

Call me with that install code... NOW!

Ken, I have a bone stock S2000 and work at the College and Metcalf area. Since you seem to have such good luck running here, why don't we line them up sometime?

By the way Ken, the only red s2000 that I have seen in the area is driven by a 40-50YO soccer mom that is always going down nall off of 119th (no offense to other gals)....I'm guessing she wasn't really trying or it could have been that you were racing on a heavily congested street....

Can we get some details on this supposed kill.....I'm guessing you had to shut it down around 45-50MPH.

Kacee sounds like a good idea to me. If possible include me in so I can get a video to post the results. Good luck and make sure you have not put a sticker on or something that ken could constitute a mod. He wont race anyone unless the odds are in his favor. He is as slippery as a greased pig when it comes to racing

ps have I met you at the s2000 meeting before

There was some other guy with a red S2000 at the last meeting at the park, but it wasn't him, but it was some younger guy with short cropped black hair. Traffic was pretty clear so we were easily up near 90-100 before having to shut it down due to a upcoming traffic light, hell the speed limit there is 45, no way we were shutting it down at 45. I'm around the college and metcalf area a lot, also spotted a couple of other Boxster S's that park in the copper tower there at 7300 college so there should be plenty of Boxster S's to go after. Nice to know that we are in such demand! I guess when you establish the standard, everyone wants to be you. I do have custom floor mats, I wonder if that is considered a mod because no one knows if they were Porsche special issue or not... c'est la vie...

Tbone, what part of "Call me with the install code" did you not get? Anyway it worked, so I'll see you tomorrow, bring your disk...

Speaking of older people driving S2000's, I see some old guy driving a black one all the time on either 119th or Quivira, never been next to him, always going the other way, so no idea if he races people or not.

BTW, if I beat you or you beat me, what exactly again are we proving? I seem to have lost the whole point of this.... do I need to drop trou for a measurement?

I realize both cars are very close in performance. I also must say that I like the Boxster S a lot. However, KaCee if S2Ken races you: REPRESENT for us all (and videotape it)!

Hope your on the Kansas Side of KC S2Ken, for this is the Show Me state in Missouri, and every car magazine has the S2000 kicking the Boxster S in every catagory. 0-60, Slalom, and 1/4 mile? Now if you need actual page numbers for the issue's I will give them to you. No mods, just stock, same high caliber drivers, who test for a living. Don't hide behind the small print either, for if you read it in Road and Track, Car and Driver, Autoweek, you will see that the time differences are enough, that they "are" statistically significant. So no race needs to be run, no life's in danger, its over, visit your local newstand and weep! Thats the facts. The Boxster is one sweet looking car that anyone would be proud to own, but the numbers are not there, its just the facts, if not, give us a reference besides your own war stories. Give a nod to the Japs for building a car in the Acura NSX plant, putting the Honda Badge on it, to show they are running with the best for 32K! Now that's engineering!

Well I'm glad I don't live on the "Misery" side of the state line, but rather on the side that roots for the 16-0 KANSAS JAYHAWKS!!! Where, btw, you get a better education than on the Misery side. People from Misery seem to think that the S2000 is ALWAYS rated better than the Porsche Boxster S in magazine, yet they seem to have SELECTIVE memory, but I digress, let's let the FACTS speak for themselves.

Road and Track - September 2000 - Modern Gladiators:
This review looks at the best two-seat convertibles offered by four European and Japanese manufacturers, the Porsche Boxster S, BMW M Roadster, Honda S2000 and Audi TT Quattro Roadster. In typical Road & Track fashion, the testers thoroughly wring out each car, even measuring performance with an advanced global positioning system. The bottom line? Three of the four testers pick the Boxster S, saying it does everything a sports car is supposed to do better than the others.

BTW, 4 out of 5 dentist recommend Trident for their patients who chew gum too.

If you'd like to see more results, please follow this link, some of them even favor the S2000, so as you can see I am not BIAS or BLIND to the truth.

http://www.consumersearch.com/www/automoti...es/reviews.html

How about these: ?
Car and Driver magazine - Feb 2002 p.111 "Road Test Digest" (The summary of the performance of cars previously tested). The S2000 (Tested 10/99) shows a 0-60 mph at 5.8 sec, 1/4 mi. in 14.4 sec, and a top end of 147 mph. On the same page the Porsche Boxster S (Tested 8/01) shows a 0-60 mph at 5.3 sec, 1/4 mi. in 13.9 sec, and a top end of 155 mph.

And let's not forget about these shall we?

Road and Track 12/2000 issue compared Boxster S, S2000, M-Roadster and TT. Page 65, S = 14.0 (100.5)to 1/4 mile, S2000 = 14.1 (99.6 mph) to 1/4 mile. Same issue Road Test Summary pages 152/153 has Boxster S at 65.7 mph in the slalom vs 63.8 mph for the S2000.

So I can finally say PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT. Don't EVER again follow one of my posts accusing me of making things up or lying about the Boxster S, etc. I am the most even-handed person I know and if you push me I will prove you WRONG every single time.

Please, take a deep breath, go back outside away from the computer, get in your S2000, go find a nice twisty road and DRIVE the car and have FUN and stop this stupid nonsense!!!

Apologies to other S2000 owners who may be more level-headed and who simply enjoy all cars without trying to "prove" one car better than another by some magazine test.
