Smoked a Toyota MR2 Spyder Today... It was bound to happen, another one of those cocky MR2 owners someone was talking about last week pulls up next to me at the stoplight and starts taching up his engine.
Now I know full well he's going to lose so I look over and give a puzzled look to him and a shrug and he points forward and continues to tack up his motor. Oh well, at least I should be sporting I figure.
The light turns green and I sit there and let him drop the clutch and launch across the intersection, this is a 4 way stop with 2 straight lanes and a left turn lane each way so it is a wider intersection. About the time he makes it across the intersection the car behind me honks because I am sitting there.
Ok Ok I get the message. I stomp on it and near the beginning of 2nd gear I'm already flying by him. By the time I hit 3rd he is disappearing in my rear view mirror, I shift into 4th, but probably didn't need to. About a mile ahead I have to turn so I'm waiting at the light when he comes with the riceboy flyby and actually tachs his engine up as driving by...
well, whatever... I like the MR2 Spyder, but some of the drivers certainly lack any understanding of reality. And before you tell me that Sport Compact Car had a turbo one on its cover that run under 5 seconds 0-60, that car was a one-off, can't buy that kit, the drive train is ready to blow and you could always add a supercharger or turbo(s) to our cars to make them faster still.
What was it someone said? The more you dress up a turd it is still a turd? I'm not saying the Spyder is a turd, but some of the drivers are in need of a good bowel movement if you get my drift...
Is anyone making "kill" stickers? I need to add some to my windshield...
I don't know what you think man, I don't even know if you know what you think? Later

When are you going to stop bad mouth other people on our board, especially spyderchat.com. You always attack them over here. What is your problem? Why don't you tell them they suck on spyderchat.com?
He can't go to SpyderChat and tell us how much we suck, because he has been banned for hacking, assuming other member's identity, deleting valuable information from our board, and just plain being an ass to the community in general.
Since, Ken has made it his crusade to go around badmouthing MR2 Spyder, and most of all Spyder owners. Ken hated his MR2 so much, that he ran one of the biggest Spyder websites on the web. Ken hated to modify his Spyder so much, that he ran a Spyder-only after market store.
But we are getting off on a personal note, and if you want to know more about Ken, and his past with SpyderChat as well as why he is so bitter, go to SpyderChat.com and do a search for KenDude. Back to the question at hand. S2K is faster then MR2 in its stock form -- no question, no argument. And I will be the first to complement S2K on being an excellent car that is worth every penny of its price tag. Comparing MR2 with S2k is simply not fare. They are different cars, and we all get what we paid for.
But does MR2 have qualities that are perhaps superior to equivalents in S2K? Sure! If you want the list, then I invite all of you to come over to SpyderChat.com and do a search for S2K, as this conversation occurred numerous times before.

That post was made on behalf of Thomas Laporta who at the time was considering the purchase of a Honda S2000, which he later DID purchase. He didn't know about internet message forums like this one and I knew that this site exsited but had never visited, so I set up an account visited and posted some questions for him.
He later visited and created his own account. This has been asked and answered before.
Now I see you are attacking me, so you've taken this PERSONAL as opposed to keeping it about the cars. So instead of taking this private you are going to fill up more of this message forum with your mindless posts? That's your answer? Next you'll be threatening me with bodily harm because Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent. Don't know how to use the PM feature here and give everyone a break?
VALUE statement for the Toyota MR2 Spyder? Sure I can make an easy one. You can buy a Spyder for $23K, drop a $5K turbo in it and smoke a Honda S2000 or Boxster S 0-60 all day long. As Shizon'00 said if your value equation is simply 0-60/price why aren't we all driving Mustangs or Camaros???
With regard to "hacking" SpyderChat was later proven FALSE as the Admin of Spyderchat admitted that the IP address in the logs had been edited to change the IP address from someone from Houston to my IP address because I had criticized the management at SpyderChat.com, a practice which I see others have done and also have subsequently been banned since the time I left.
Did you know that I used to own a Toyota MR2 Spyder? Yep, sure did and at one point ran the largest website for it too, www.spyderweb.net which I later gave away when I sold my car. Why did I buy it? Why did I sell it? I bought it because I wanted some fun little inexpensive convertible to run around in that summer/fall and was waiting to get another car at a later date after a relocation. The Spyder was great for that and I had fun while I owned it. After I sold it I got a lot of questions from the Spyder community like "How can you sell that car? Spyders RULE!" etc. etc. When I told them that the Spyder wasn't the epitomy of the sports car world several users took it personally and turned on me. Just as you now are taking it PERSONAL that I bought a Boxster S and didn't buy a S2000, the same way that you are making it PERSONAL that your value judgement isn't the same as mine or Shizon's or anyone else who didn't buy and fawn over the S2000. Since I don't own a Spyder anymore I don't visit Spyderchat.com anymore as I am not interested in the car any longer. Why do I visit here? Because you keep attacking me personally, and slamming the Boxster S based on "your" values. Feel free to visit the Spyder board yourself and you will find that it is filled with MANY Rice-Boy wannabes, who from time to time have come over here claiming that their cars are better than S2000's because they are a better "Value" - hmmm sound familiar?
Look at your own habit, posting after me dogging the Boxster S MONTHS after this thread was finished and had scrolled off? Who here is looking to start something? You are, look in the mirror.
BTW, the last time I checked this was still a free country, and I am free to drive whatever car I want to. If I want to sell my Boxster S tomorrow and buy a Yugo, I'm free to do so, based on MY values.
Why you persist in trying to make this personal and simply just trying to stir up trouble is beyond me, unless of course you don't really own a S2000 and are just really some troll from over on the Spyder board? Come to think of it I don't think I've ever seen your car or proof that you own one. Hmmmmm. Well whatever, you are free to drive whatever you want.
If you want to continue this further I suggest you take it into PM as no one else here wants to hear your whining any longer and honestly I am VERY TIRED of responding to your lies, innuendos, wild speculations and warped sense of reality.
Do you want me just to declare you the "Winner" of an internet argument? Ok, you WIN! And you're STILL Retarded! (Props to whomever posted that image awhile back....)

Hiro,
I'm not sure I understand the pictures question. Are you asking me to go take a picture of me standing next to the Boxster S and the Jaguar at the same time or are you asking SMU to take a picture of himself standing next to his car and something else? Sorry just a little confused. I may already have something where I am by both the Jag and the Porsche, I'll have to take a look. You could always check my Boxster S web page to see the pics I have online there.
With regard to the message on the Ferrari website, I'm sorry I missed the question earlier about follow up. It was posted on FerrariChat.Com, so you could check that website, it has been many months, but I assume they keep all back messages searchable. It was a topic about the undercar dynamics of the car not providing as much grip/downforce as Ferrari had originally intended and thus a couple of people had added wings to the back of their 360's and claimed to have more stability at higher speed. Personally I haven't done it so I couldn't tell you which is or isn't better, but I suspect members of FerrariChat.com can tell you if you are interested.
Hope that helps...
BTW, if you didn't notice you can't PM SMU, there isn't an icon to click on to do so...

smu1976.. amazingly enough I am going to have to agree with s2ken even though I like your style. This thread was put to bed back in november. nothing was ever settled with s2ken(like anything ever is) then you start a post 4 months later. imho s2ken was going to purchase an s2000 but we went to look at them and I bought one. He then instead bought the boxster. Ken will tell you he was asking about them for me.. I dont agree but Either way it is ancient history. Dont feed the trolls. If you leave s2ken alone he will go away. It was quiet for a while. Let him live in the web of lies he has created in fantasy land and lets move on. There are plenty of people worth talking to on this forum

Interestingly enough I concur with Mr. Laporta that this thread was put to rest long ago. I did go with him to look at S2000's although not from the dealership he ultimately bought from. I did impersonate an interested buyer here, but that was simply to try and gain information for him since he was unaware of this message board and in my opinion seemed to be rushing into the purchase of an S2000 and hence I quickly asked the question whether or not there were any issues that I needed to be aware of so I could relay them to him. Whether he wants to believe it or not, I was trying to look out for him and didn't want to see him get burned. If I was really interested in buying an S2000, I could have bought one from the dealer he didn't buy from or any other dealer but since I already had done the research on the Boxster S and had found 3 candidates, I was probably too far along to consider the S2000, although I do concur that the car provides nearly identical performance to the Boxster S for less money.
Whose car is faster between Mr. Laporta and myself I feel is irrelevant and I don't ever race friends, certainly not for money or "bragging rights", this goes all the way back to high school, I never raced any of my friends because well they were my friends and I didn't want anything to come between us. I had the opportunity to race, just never felt the need to. The only people I raced were people I didn't know or even better those I didn't like.
I am hopeful that at some point Mr. Laporta will realize that there is no need for us to race, we both have great cars and should simply enjoy them for what they are. If my car is faster than his, fine, if his car is faster than mine, fine, in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter...
As for having sex with SMU1976,
I'm afraid not, I've got all I can handle with the honey and I'm not gay. "Not that there is anything wrong with that" - Jerry Seinfeld...
Hopefully, we can all simply put this issue/thread/discussion/whatever to rest now.
Thank You and Goodnight!
