got humbled....but..
Picked up my brother late one night about two weeks after I got my S. pulled into a c-store for some coffee. When we came out this dude is standing over my car nodding his head. He says, "nice car, honda s2000, 240 hp, vtec, nice." Brother then proceeds to tell him that he has been all over the net and that my car is just about the fastest thing on the road. Dude says, "hmmm... you want to race, all I have is a stock Mustang Cobra". I say, "sure follow me". We turn onto a road with a long straight stretch. At the time I was still getting a feel for rolls, launches etc..and had NOT discovered that 6,000 rpm phenomenom. Anyway, I am rolling in first around 15 mph (mistake) he is alongside but about a half car behind. I here him rev I mash and off we go. He walks off and leaves me by about 10 cars to 110. As we roll past him he gives me the thumbs down. WTF. I didn't sleep for two days. One week later I am taking my kid to practice and you know who turns in front of me. I ease up behind him and notice a bumper sticker with the acronym NOS. I kinda had mixed emotions. Pissed about the lie, glad to know the why.
well it was a cobra capable of running 13.5's stock and 12.9's on drag radials
people lie about mods to their car to surprise people or fool them i.e ricers with stickers for mods they dont have

Stock Cobras run 13.5s steady with little launching difficulty. Much easier to drag race with than an s2000(obviously), you didn't get humbled...what was supposed to happen, happened. Well not the 10 car lengths part, but lying about nos is a common thing and the fact your little bro said your car was the fastest thing on the road probably didn't make him feel too bad about his lie.

I own a Cobra and I can tell you they are not all that easy to launch. From a roll as in the story yes. But from a stop is a different story. These DOHC's don't get into the power curve until about 4 grand. As soon as you release the clutch it is bog city. I normally load the clutch at 3k and then ease the clutch quickly to keep from dropping below 4k. It takes some practice to launch these pigs. Don't you hate people who get you into trouble like that. No offense to your brother but when it is not my car I keep my mouth shut. If he wasn't running NOS you would have only been behind him by about 2 car lengths so don't feel to bad. Just go buy a turbo, it would be a good race
