LOL...the GTI doesn't have a fking stiffened chassis and additional support gussets and improved welding points and whatever else people go on about the Type-R...it's not internally modified.

Your opinion does not have any more value than mine. You say that if it has stiffened chassis and support gussets than it's modified, I say if it has a Turbo slapped on top of the engine than it's modified.

Who's to say that you are right and that I am wrong?

P.S. Let me clue you in: my post was sarcastic to illustrate just how ridiculous is your claim that ITR is not a stock car. You can't just invent your own definitions of what consists a stock car and expect the whole world to go by it.
The SAME engine is in the BASE 1.8T as is in the FULLY LOADED GTI. Is that clear enough for you? Same chassis, pretty much the same springs...same gearbox....the Type-R Honda created is more than an engine upgrade and stiffer shocks...THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE.

LOL...Forget it man...you guys are impossible...believe what you want. Keep away.

I'd disagree. Promoting the car in competitions is one thing..but the car they use just isn't as specialized as the Type-R...at least not as much effort from the factory has gone into them. Is it really that hard for you all to admit that?
Right. Honda has put more effort into the Type R than Renault into the Clio. Nevermind the fact that they (Renault) have MOVED THE ENTIRE ENGINE FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR TO THE REAR in the Renaultsport V6 Clio -- but you're right Honda has put more effort into the development of the ITR.

Smack.

yet the Clio always comes out on top and performs better on REAL ROADS.
Because you are not citing any specific examples it is hard to discuss this point with you -- but Euro mags tend to be a bit Euro biased. They also have good things to say about TVR's and Land Rovers. I can only say that as someone who has driven both cars there is very little comparison.

That's ing stupid. First off - what's the smallest motor in the Golf again? I think you can get a 1.4 liter in the U.K still. There goes the same engine argument, the GTI is modified because VW has replaced the base golf motor (or within the GTI brand added a V6 -- again a change).

So because Honda added some more welds their car is not stock. Meanwhile VW can change the springs, tranny, shocks, sways, tires, wheels, brakes, motor, seats, steering wheel and more, but hey it's still stock!

So ANY MODEL OTHER THAN GLS is a MODIFIED car!!! ESPECIALLY the GTI!!! They removed the rear doors on it to make the chassis stiffer, didn't they?

On the other hand, Integra Type R is a bone stock car, since I say so.

2.0L...Not anymore it isn't.....you'd be hard pressed to find a 2.0L engine on VW lot...they are all leftovers.
Ya....the Type-R is like a stock GSR...riggghhhhhtttt....

So you claimed Honda put more effort into the Type R than Renault into the Clio V6.....are you now backing out of that? Or is the V6 Clio not really a Clio after all .... I guess I am confused.
