No offense but you have no idea what you are talking about.
I dont?

it's funny cause i have an 03 evo and i swapped out the 10.5 hotside and ran the dyno to see what difference it made and guess what? ZERO gain.

sorry to rain on your parade, but i have first hand experience with the difference in the two hotsides. The ONLY difference is the 10.5 doesnt boost spike like the 9.8, and thats mainly because of the wastegate flapper is different.

So let me get this strait, you dynoed your car for a baseline, swapped out the hotside, got it reflashed, and re-dynoed it the SAME DAY on the SAME DYNO and got NO INCREASED hp? Who performed the work if you dont mind me asking? If the 10.5 hotside does not result in higher hp then why is it such a popular mod?

My point is this, 05's are quicker due to: higher boost from factory, remapped ecu, and 10.5 hotside.

Heck a mail in flash will net you 20 whp! Why is it so unbelievable that an 05 would not be quicker than an 03?

Are you saying that these mods will not make an 05 significantly faster? How do you then explain the higher traps and 1/4 mile times? How do you explain what me and my brother have experienced?

ill say that the remapped ecu and higher boost might help, but the only thing the 10.5 really does is it improves the midrange.

i didnt dyno on the same day, but it was the same dyno, and the car was tuned both times. I did the hotside swap and i did the tuning myself. I dont reflash to get tuned either. Thats the easy and expensive way out.

the difference in you and your brothers car may just be different types of break in periods and like is aid increased boost and remapped ECU. The better midrange will help him accelerate a bit better.

I could go on and on..........now you show me proof that a 10.5 hotside doesnt make any difference. Are you saying that Works, dynoflash, and a host of other PROFESSIONALS and enthusiasts are wrong?

before the hotside swap.

That was on pump gas and tuned.

this is the only scan that i have after the swap, but this was on race gas, so it's abit higher, but i assure that i gained nothing on pump gas.

I take it your EVO was not stock when it dynoed @ 273.5 hp... In that case, neither of you can prove how much it gains because it's all dependent on many factors. So far, I have beat every EVO that I've raced on a highway roll. I may not have encountered any 05's yet though. My friends 04 EVO beats me by one car from a roll after close to $3k in mods, but off of race gas.

your friend needs to learn the good driver mod then.

i was trapping more than most s2ks after i had spent only $70.

now ive spent less than $2k and im trapping faster than MOST SC'd s2ks. off race gas.

10.5 hotside makes a big difference its not just the peak horsepower but through out the whole powerband and spools faster. here around my area most 03/04 baseline dynoed at 220~230 where i dynoed in at 251 stock. It is obvious by reading evolutionm.net that it is not just 5 hp 11 pounds tq difference claimed by mitsubshi. 05 are running better times and better dyno dyno numbers. I wish i had a chance to run a s2k when i was stock but modded away after a month.

i did run 350z and I pulled on him every gear.

I still do miss the S. best summer ride

evil dylan how did you add 100 whp with $1500. your dyno with race gas is at 300 whp so you dynoed in at 200 whp with race gas?????

my mods are full turboback, MBC, dynoflash, and intake 60whp+

Haha, if I had 3K in mods in my Evo you would need to be SC'd to stand a chance. I raced an 02 S the other day getting on the freeway, he was in front of me and punched it so I followed. I had to let off the gas to keep from running into him, we went up to about 110-120 and I was starting to pull away easily (turboback and reflash)

I have a friend that went with a 10.5 hotside and said he didnt feel any difference. And the 03's lose steam because of the boost taper, nothing else. With my reflash it pulls hard to redline if im not careful, I'll hit the rev limit pretty quick. I will be going with the 10.5 hotside, but only after I upgrade my turbo to maybe the "white rabbit" depending on if people seem to like it after a few months.
