Stock S vs Stock R, S>R but not by much.
Stock S vs Mod R, questionable..

I have both and I actually was very disappointed with the S acceleration when test drove it but ended up getting it anyway...
Agreed, having owned both, I have to say from the performance aspect, the R is a much better value.

The S is only moderatley faster and moderatley more nimble.

I guess DC2 could be either one... I would be suprised by a stock ITR running 14.5 though...
Its possible, even a magazine has managed it before. I think SC pulled a 14.5 @ 96mph in an 01' ITR. Most ITR's with decent drivers will manage midd'ish to high 14's at around 93 - 95mph on average I'd say.

I'd agree that the ITR is much better value, from a purely performance standpoint. Also having owned both though, I think the S2K is significantly faster, but only moderately more nimble (if at all).

My friend still owns a DC2 ITR, so I get to drive it occasionally and I must say that I miss the 'feel' of it a lot, if I had the $$$ to spare I'd definitely snap another one up.

As for the original poster, a modified ITR can definitely keep up with an S2K. Even with basic bolt-ons and a good driver, they certainly won't be far behind...if at all. Its a great track car, and one of the 'purest' raw performance cars on the market this side of an Elise.

Nah. Back to back they don't really feel any different from a stop. The VTEC engagement for the R is a bit more pronounced, the s2k winds out a bit more with each gear.

For what its worth, your MPH's above are 1-3 low.

If it is properly tuned and he can drive then it will be a very close race.

Really? I've driven my S2K and my friends 99 ITR back to back, the ITR even has a J's Racing Intake (which made it noticeably stronger down low) and my S2K still felt quicker. The ITR's VTEC engagement is more pronounced though. I think you're just spoilt by your 911 Turbo Steve, so you can no longer tell the difference between two sub 15 second cars.

I wasn't saying that the S2K is leaps and bounds faster than an ITR, like say a C5 is, but its certainly no drivers race IMO? There is a significant difference.

I ran a EG Type R hatch Fully gutted with just the exception of the passenger seat with mugen header, straight pipe, and some type of ecu from a 20mph and 45mph. He had me in the 20mph by a car but from the 45mph we were dead even till 5th then i started to pull slowly. At the time I had just a comptech intake, and spoon exhaust with the cat on. It should be close.
then the dude cant drive an itr powered eg hatch should run anywhere from mid 13s to low 13s

After I learned how to drive my S (2003 S2k) I raced my friends ITR on a freeway here in San Diego, Cali. From a 70mph roll I took him out but I do believe with bolt ons they can give a STOCK s2k a damned good run for its money. His ITR was completly stock btw.

Kind regards,
Joe

Yeah probably not.

Most of my ITR experience was on a set of lighter wheels with lighter R compounds -- a pronounced difference in acceleration from the stock setup.
