THe S2000 SHOULD be faster, but all things considered a very good RX-8 driver with a great launch vs a 'bad' S2000 driver with a poor launch and the results could come out favoring the RX-8. There is not that HUGE difference in the 1/4 mile times to rule out driver capability. Personally Neither car was designed for 1/4 mile runs, but here are some 1/4 mile times for both:

http://www.dragtimes.com/Honda--S2000-Drag-Racing.html

http://www.dragtimes.com/Mazda--RX-8-Drag-Racing.html

As you can see the average for the RX-8 is 14.361 seconds, the average for the
S2000 (excluding the rear engine drag S2000) is 14.091, not a huge difference.

There is no way you can say that the S is a mid 14 second car. Maybe the 04 because its slower but my 2000 ran 13's all day. 13.8 stock and 13.7 with an HKS exhaust. The bad runs were 14.0 and 14.1 never close to 15, except one time, when i missed 2nd and then missed 3rd, stepped on the brake, and then cruised down the track, i think that was a 15.4, same time i got in my 79hp CRX.
Uhhhhm Uhhhhm the 04 isn't slower. You basically have your 03 with the feels stroker kit for 04. Even us Honda enthusiasts know there is no replacement for displacement. Don't go making idiotic claims like the 04 is slower.

You know Nate dogg thinks he has his stuff together. Yeah a perfectly driven S2000 does run 13's a 13.6 that is. I would post the link but I don't feel like looking it up. It on this site somewhere, do a little research.

a stroker kit which takes away a 1000 rmps. The 04 shifts while the 03 keeps goin. Thats what wins the race.

NOT A HUGE DIFFERENCE????

.2 is about 1 1/2 cars difference. I call that pretty substantial.

You think a possible TWO car difference for a car that has more hp and weighs less is substantial? Being slow off the, or slow shifting and the two cars are neck and neck. The point is, yes the S2000 is quick, but according to some (here) the RX-8 is a snail. All the numbers would indicate otherwise.

See below (taken from this board) 13.08 vs 14.07 (pretty substantial eh?)
S2000 vs SRT-4, Fun Stuff

I was in my 04 when i saw the neon with racing numbers in a parking lot. Asked him what he ran, he said 13.8. A couple weeks ago i got a 14.07 at the track, so we went ahead and raced. got a good straight away and went from a roll of about 20 to 135mph. It was the closest race i've ever had. Nose to nose the whole time, I'd pull when he shifted and he'd pull when i shifted.

Jeezus, again...ET's don't mean sh*t from a roll. Trap speeds people! While the RX8's ET was "only" 3 tenths slower, it's trap was about 5mph slower. Now THAT'S substantial!

BTW, those are some pretty quick times for an RX8 , on RX8club.com, they're mostly in the high 14 low 15 sec range at about 92-94mph.
