Default WRX Encounter

The only other car I considered purchasing prior to the S2000 was the WRX. . . but after calculating how much in aftermarket upgrades I'd need to get the WRX to the level of the Honda. (handling, grip, braking) . . .I decided on the latter. And based on the multiple 0-70, 30-80 and 30-? runs I did against a guy in blk WRX it looks like I made the right decision.

I diced it up on Trimble rd. and Montague this afternoon with a Black WRX w/Volks, COBB calipers, a perfect (aesthetically at least) suspension drop, and, what he described as 'stage zero?' engine tuning (more boost and a downpipe). . . . and I was stoked that he didn't take me. I know I shouldn't have expected to lose, but once I heard his turbo spool up (really wicked) I expected trouble . . . but I pulled away each time we lit it up. Of course, if he drops an exhaust on I'm sure the roles would reverse.

you'd be able to hear my turbo spool up...unfortunately, my car's slow as heck. Also with an exhaust, you'd still beat it in the twisties. Straight line...drive really well, I guess.

WRX is still one of the best bang-for-the-buck cars available. I never really considered it when I was shopping for the S2000 (just way too different IMHO), but I would love to convice the wife that it would be better than a 4Runner as we currently are shopping for sport utes & wagons to replace my Integra. I've been trying to play the "Mileage" angle but she won't drive the WRX because of the homely looks. Hard to argue her on that point, but I would love to have a 13 sec AWD sleeper that gets good mileage than a 4Runner anyday.

Anyone with pointers on how to convice wifey that they WRX is not ugly

So I'm not the only one here that upgraded to the S from an Integra?
Nope - pretty natural progression if you ask me
