Default 00-01 shift knob change on an 03

Call me crazy but I am considering going to an 00-01 shifter on my 03. It seems like it would fill the hand better but it does look taller. I know many here are fans of the counter-sunk knobs but I can't help thinking the shorter the shifter, the tighter the gates get left to right. The original knob has a nice vintage look to it and I would appreciate any opinions before I take the plunge. The 02-03 just feels "dinky", for lack of a better word. Thanks to all on something that is probably insignificant to most.

I don't think the size will be noticeably different. Does it get cold where you live (or hot for that matter)? If so, then the solid metal knob will be kind of harsh on the hand. Those are my thoughts.

Use what you like best, it really won't make much of a difference at all.

They are the same size. I have an OEM '00 knob and picked up a used '02 w/ leather wrap. Same size, just a bit heavier.

I now have a Voodoo knob and like it alot. The main drawback is the cold-hot feeling of the non-leather knobs (as already mentioned).

I have the OEM titanium knob on my 04 - all the years are interchangeable. The 00-01 knob is significantly lighter than the 02/06 leather knob - which in turn is lighter than the titanium one. I prefer the extra weight for a more positive shift

I agree with these guys. IMO, the OEM Ti is the best, followed by the '00-'01 all aluminium. You can get the 02-on shift knob on anything; honda or acura. The '00-'01 was designed originally to be nestalgic. I have the Ti on now, but would never get rid of the all aluminium one. It really is the lightest of the OEMs.

Wow, all I have seen are pics, I never would have guessed the 00-01 was the same size. This kind of sends me back to the drawing board as I was hoping for a more substantial shifter to grip (that could have sounded better). I was also under the impression the 00-01 was a little more square, which also appeals to me. I have some locals here in Atlanta that might let one go for a good used price and I can give both a try, thanks to all for the feedback.
