agreed. prestige/porsche badge and 4.57 gears to give it the extra kick. seat heaters, too. at the end of the day, it seems like there are 2 kinds of people. the kind who care more about their personal driving experience and those who care how prestigious they look on the outside to others. not to say those other cars aren't good cars.

reliability is a big issue for me.

I had an 01 ZO6 for 1 year. I was bored with it after several months. Fun car and fast, but is so out dated in my opinion after the new C6 and C6 ZO6. The car is not as fun to drive as the S2k as well. This car fits like a glove.

No regrets at all. Like most, I did a fair amount of research and found nothing else that even came close in the same price range. The original post mentioned the 'vette but you definitely have to consider the "used sports car" factor. Plus I value the convertible part of the S very highly.

The biggest "regret" with any specialty car purchase is the eventuality of new models and improvements to existing ones. But its almost impossible to stay ahead of that curve.

The primary competitive concern when I bought mine was that the Cayman would be priced well below the Boxster or the Pontiac/Saturn offerings would be 250+hp and $20K. Neither happened.

i am torn between a rio yellow 05 or 06..and can't really decide. your post made me want to wait.
Well, here is the thing...

Stability control would be very nice during the wet season. Until we see how it functions (will it be fully disabled with a switch?), I'm not sure if I'd want it or not.

Rear speakers would be great... but they seem to be nothing more than cheap 3" speakers stuck in the roll hoops. If they aren't offering a new area to put aftermarket speakers in, then it's not a plus for me.

I like the 04-05 wheels more.

Overall, I just need to see the car in person.

I had a 2002 Boxster S so speaking from experience, the fun factor in the S2000 is the same, top down, handles well and you can get into similar trouble with speeding. One thing I liked better about the S2000 is that in my area, there are far less S2000s than Boxsters and when I owned mine, I had a tendency to worry more about the car when it sat in a parking lot. Sure I worry about my S2000 but not nearly as much as a car almost double in price. The status thing of driving a "Porsche" vs a "Honda" is not a concern to me but for those who I know that made a comment, I just tell them I like the S2000 better, so who cares... It's my car and my choice. I my S2000.

I agree with the issue of being able to turn off the stability control completely. I also want to see if there is a noticeable delay caused by the DBW.

For about 5k u can add about 100more hp.
aftermarket is completely irrelevant

not to mention that in addition to a s/c + install + possible tuning, you will need stronger driveline parts

no regrets here.. however i do have a z06 too.. love em both.. love the top down on the s.. but the torque on the z.. WOW.. mine is modded pretty heavily.. and a great scca racer..
i wish the s2k had a little more interior stow and storage space.. for a daily driver. .. hate puttting stuff in the trunk.. just a hassle..
but overall ..
love the car.

there seems to be a lot of Z06 and s2k comparison on this board.. in a nutshell.. i think both the zo6 owner and the honda owner .. have a lot in common.. fun to drive.. great head turner.. track days.. scca autox's..

i can speak on both.. some here bash the z.. and none bash the s..

LOL

but.. all in all.. they are pretty equal.. the s gets more nods.. with top down..
the z ..gets more respect from the car boys in town..
they are both fun as hell to drive..

my silverado gets more attention than both of them.. well.. here in west virginia.. the 20's look cool

i cant bash either car.. i just have a hell of a time in the morning deciding what to drive to work.. LOL
