Longest trip I've done was 8 hours to NC for a Golf/beach/getaway week with my wife. The S fits me and the wife like a glove. The seats are more comfortable than our van or SUV. The trunk has lots of room. We packed two sets of clubs, a soft duffel, small cooler, etc. See "recreation" pic below. When we were unloading a guy walked up and told us he had to leave his boxter at home because he couldn't fit the clubs.

Let's not forget the day trip to the beach.

so you got to do the entire break-in on one trip. very efficient!were you aware of the point when you hit 600miles? and did you just nail the throttle or what?

i think that trunk on the S has surprising capacity. my wife and i are about to take it on a trip up to cape cod (450miles 1way). we are not taking either of our suv's, including one that is very comfortable. i figure that we're never going to hit the allowable miles on the lease, so we might as well take the S and enjoy the scenery.

congrats on the purchase.

I'm doing a 14 hour drive in August. I don't think it'll be that bad. But my best friend is coming and I plan to switch with him every 1-2 hours so each of us can get a break from driving and try to stretch out a bit in the passanger seat.

Welcome to the Big Grin Club and congats on the new S! (I'm a little slow today) That must have been one great deal you got.

Remember, it's not the size of the trunk that counts, it's how you pack it!

How did you resist going above 5k rpm?
I didn't have to worry about the break in because I bought the car used. It's a MY2000 with 29000 miles. So I played in the VTEC range quite a bit. I bought the car from a guy that is 52 years old and is restoring an Austin Healy 3000. His wife made him get rid of one of them and I was the luck buyer. The car is in great shape and has somewhat low miles considering the year. I can't say enough how much I love this car. I enjoyed the first 8 hours, but them I just got too tired. I ended up getting in Dallas at 3:30 am this morning. The only reason I flew to AZ to buy it was that (1)I got a GREAT deal, (2)I LOVE AZ scenery, and (3)It was the color I wanted, Formula Red.

And of course what was the first thing I did when I woke up this morning, gave har a bath.

I will say this about the VTEC in this car, it's amazing the difference. My wife has a Civic EX and you can barely feel the difference, in fact, she can't mainly because she knows nothing about cars. But DAMN, this car's VTEC switch-over is insane. It feels like a small shot of N2O.

I forgot to reply to some of the questions.

The trip was about 1400 miles.

I'd rather not say the price I got but I can tell you that my payment only went up $3.50 from my previous car which was a Mazda MP3 that was $18,500 and $331/month.

There are lots of S2000's in Dallas but many of them are at dealers and then you have to pay the taxes. This way, I pay taxes for what's written on the bill of sale, which isn't much. I'd rather buy from a private seller anyway, I hate car salesmen and especially used car salesmen.

But anyone planning on buying a new S2000 out of state should consider getting it towed to their state because as stated by someone before, your speeds should vary while breaking in a new motor. A new motor that is broken in at a constant RPM can have lasting effects.

But anyway, thanks for the kind words guys. I will definetely enjoy the $hit out of this car!

Oh, one last funny thing. I picked up my wife from work for lunch today and she hadn't seen it yet because she didn't know where I parked in the parking lot. The first thing she said was "We are buying you a new wedding ring this weekend".

I lost mine on the golf course about a year ago and just hadn't gotten a new one yet.

I just though that was pretty funny.
