Tank after tank, with 77k miles on the MY00 and 5k miles on the MY04, my mileage has consistently been as follows:

Track events - 9mpg
Normal city driving - 22 to 24 mpg
All highway driving - 28 to 31 mpg

All this has been calculated using the method xviper posted above.

To suzukali, it is NOT possible to determine gas usage by driving 30 miles. User xviper's method.

To S(teve)2000, you said you did "two full tank tests." How many miles were you able to drive on those full tanks?

I get around 25MPG combined on my 05. My driving is split about 60/40 highway. I put just over 1100 miles on the car in the first month, so I was not in VTEC until the last part of the month.

I get less than 20mpg...

Is there something wrong with my car?

In unrelated news, I was thinking of seeing the orthopedist for this funny discoloration of my right foot.... here's a picture

Try the method that is listed above, but when you go to re-fuel, go back to the same gas station and use the same pump. This way you will eliminate the effects of using different pump (i.e. level of fullness).

That being said, I'm doing about 22 mpg mixed driving & 27 mpg on 80% highway (will probably get28-29 mpg doing all highway).

Hope that helps,

I will try xvipers method , but the way i tested was filled up the tank , drove for 30 miles and filled it up again. it filled 2 gallons. i think its pretty accurate.

I have MY05, 2000 miles on it so far. Averaging 22 MPG, and I hit VTEC at least once during my commutes everyday

I use a nifty little tool called FuelLog ( for PalmOS ). My 2001 is getting:
Average MPG: 25.23
Avg Miles/Tank: 239.5
Avg Tank Fill: 9.41 gal
Max miles per tank: 255 (9.96 gal)
Total Miles: 5268
Fuels cost per mile: $0.092

This is using ~30mi day commute city to city ( with several 2-3 mile stretches of no lights ) and liberal amount of time spent above 6.5k.

Oh and air pressure can make a 10-20mi difference in Miles/Tank.

The problem with testing only 30 miles or 2 gal is that the magin of error is higher. In terms accuracy, you should really be taking the average of 5, or maybe even 10 tanks of fuel.

Give it a try first, and let us know what happens.
