It's probably evaporating faster than I'm burning it!

Not with a sealed fuel system and vapor recovery system. It's all part of the polution controls.

""""""Oh and air pressure can make a 10-20mi difference in Miles/Tank. """""""

This is very true.

Btw, what kind of tire pressure should I be running for 04' 17's?

27-29 mpg here, on my first 3-4 tanks. I normally go 280 miles between fillups, but stretched the last one to 310 miles. Probably 80% of my driving is highway at 65-75mph.

Some things that would kill MPG are stop and go driving, frequent short trips, wide-open throttle (VTEC or not), lugging the engine at low rpm in the wrong gear, and sustained high speeds / high RPMs.

As depicted in this thread alone, 300 miles to a tank is NOT uncommon for highway cruising. I'm not saying this is the "norm", but it is certainly reported quite a lot over the years I've been reading this forum. Personally, I've gotten about the same on 1 tank, highway cruising, mostly on cruise control, 6th gear, no aggressive manouvers. I could have gone another 25 or so miles with what was left in the tank based on how much it took at fill up. This is supercharged and with 4.44 gears. When I was completely stock, the best I could achieve was about 32.5 mpg (and this is converting over to US gallons for you guys) on a non-stop highway trip over 1 tank of gas, driving continuously for 5 to 6 hours.

There is a thread just recently started in one of the eastern local forums by an owner who swapped ECUs and he is getting what seems like rediculously HIGH fuel mileage (36 mpg). His "tests" continue. This car can run extremely efficiently if so tuned, so it's not hard to imagine that some cars come with this kind of fuel trim from the factory. Here is that thread:

ps. This one is PRICELESS .....................

When I filled up yesterday, I had less than one gallon left in the tank. (Yikes.) I was driving with my fingers crossed, telling the car "only a few more miles, c'mon baby!"

So with a 13.2 gal capacity, and having traveled about 272 miles at that point, I guesstimated about 21mpg/275 miles per tank. Rough guesstimate but it will be my standard for the future.

Cheers,
Diane

Just out of curiosity, has the original poster done an oil change?

I have recently been driving my car to work, which involves about 3 miles of highway and roughly 6 miles of suburban roads. my00 averages 20.5 to 22 mpg. My best has been 25.5 mpg, hwy observing speed limit with top up in cool weather.

I get about 270 miles to a tank, and I vtec at least 2x/day. BTW: My commute is about 15 miles each way.

If you're getting under 20 MPG get your car to the dealer ASAP, at $3 a gallon your getting screwed. My 05 gets 23-25 around town with occasional VTECs, 28 on the highway.

"Top up" may be a key factor here, I know I've only driven the car once with the top/windows up in over 500 miles of driving. More drag = less gas mileage?

The problem with testing only 30 miles or 2 gal is that the magin of error is higher. In terms accuracy, you should really be taking the average of 5, or maybe even 10 tanks of fuel.

Give it a try first, and let us know what happens.
The other problem is that it takes gas to haul gas around, in other words you get your best milage at the end of the tank. Don't be a wuss, drive her till the light comes on, then check your milage.
