damn i hit 150 city a lot vtec and redline lot too not more then 150 , execpt a long ride with 200 +

 

Man, how is ANYONE getting below 200 to the tank?? Even driving ALL damn day in VTEC, I dont think it would eat up an entire THIRD of your gas. Either that or Im driving like a pussy and not boostin enough.

well I guess i'm feeling pretty good after reading all these, thanks guys I drive about 70/30 hyw/city and drive the car hard with full throttle vtec hits every chance I get. back when I was stock I averaged 270mile per tank. I have an 01 so they run a little richer then the later years. I have a tp, cat back, flywheel, still running factory 16's but with lower profile tires for added acceleration and handling- 225/45/16. They probably help milage some. The biggest difference probably comes from the Vfac2 leaning out my mix a bit. I now get consistant 300mile per tank, and assuming a stock 01 makes 195hp and 135tq I now make 25hp & 10tq more then I did stock. Not bad eh?

93RON octane?

Probably most of the problem.

My car is getting poor mileage also and it seemingly is as a result of not getting the right fuel.

I moved interstate, and the premium here is not 98RON.

yeah good point, our car was aimed to run on 91 octane. Here in seattle we have 92, I'm sure 91 would perform better. any lower then 91 and you run the risk of detonation and car will retard timing which woud be counter productive too. Higher octane like 93 or more would reduce milage and performance on conterary to what most people seem to understand.

Just to be clear i'm complaining the RON i'm getting is less then 98.

I believe its tuned for 98 in Aus.

Dam your fuel is pretty ordinary then at 92.

 

I think we are talking about to different things though related, I may have misunderstood you. What are your choices of fuel and octane rating in Australia? And I am not clear on what RON stands for, I asume this is the ethonal % in the gas?

 

Actually, your speedo is reading 3.9% too fast.

If it says you're doing 60, you're actually doing 57.7.

Unless of course the speed sensor is on the front wheels... I can't recall...

If it is, then it's only .8% too slow (60MPH is actually 60.5)

So that's not it. But as everyone else has said, DUH!, fix your O2 sensor and other items, then measure your economy.
