Didn't the Sport Compact Car did a test about how
wheels, tires and weight affect acceleration and track
speeds... Switching from 16" wheels+tires combo to 18"s
hurts accelerations equal that of adding 200lb to your
car...(I can give more details rrom the mag if anyone
interested)...

But then if you're going for just the looks...

Yeah, I remember that SCC article...However, they were going from stock 13" to aftermarket 17" rims & tires & they lost I believe 2-3 hp.

I have 18x7.5 in front and 18x9 in the rear. The size of the tires are 225/35 front, 255/30 rear. My S 2000 performs better now then it did when it was stock.

Ummm, what measurements of performance are you using?

Anyway, I have MF-10s and I live in San Francisco a pothole haven. I managed to put a serious dent in two of my wheels. They were'nt cheap to repair, and all I can say is I hope that "flash" is really worth it to you. But even more important than size, look for a wheel that's light. If your going big you might as well try to find something lightweigt, or lighter than stock since your tires will be heavier as well.
