2007, 2008 Civic Si performance vs my AP1?
I would prefer the 06 RSX Type-S to the 06 Si, but Honda had to go and discontinue the Integra to keep people from buying it over an Si.
My civic was a lot of fun, but it came at great cost. No sound deadening, no carpeting, no a/c, no p/s, just a b18c, a loud exhaust and some suspension work.
I get better performance from my 99% stock AP1, with all the luxuries (p/s, a/c, quiet exhaust) and with nothing for my girlfriend to bitch about (like exhaust drone or lack of a/c in the summer in VA).
Civics do have quite a bit of potential, but out of the box the s2000 is a better car hands down as far as performance and "cool" go, but as far as being a practical car the civic wins.
I'm 19 and don't need practical. That's why I bought my AP1, everything I was building my civic for, but with a lot more luxury.

I cant believe this is even an ongoing conversation.
I have an S2000 my friend has an 06 Si. I run circles around him. From a dig. From a roll. I turn better, I stop faster, and he begs to drive my car. Not the other way around.

lol, seems like the conclusion has been made a long time ago.
Si is a great car whose performance can get pretty close to an S but stock vs stock S will still win regardless. Modified Si will beat stock S but it'll never reach well modified S. In the end, S gets the girl.

CCR has some cool cars, and our shop is always full of other people's cars, most of which are cool, and many of which are Civics. The cars almost everyone wants a ride in are 1) my S2000, 2) Tripper's supercharged Elise, 3) Tripper's Skyline GTR's. I don't think ANYBODY has ever expressed an interest in riding in any of the Civics.

Since I've owned the S2000 I've made more autocross runs with passengers than without, beucae there are always more people at the events wanting a ride than there are runs for people to ride along.
A local Evo owner told me that the ride he took in my car was "a dream come true."
The local PCA (Porsche Club of America) Web site has a video that they are using to try to get more Porsche owners interested in autocrossing. The video they're using doesn't have a Porsche anywhere in it. It's an in-car video made from the inside of my lil Honda.

I don't notice the ride requests as much as I probably should, becaue one of the reasons I bought the car was becuase I knew it could be made into an E-Ticket ride as exciting as anything Walt ever built. Having bought and built the car for the very purpose of giving people exciting rides, I apparently tend to take all the requests for granted.
Part of this is because the S2000, like the Skylines, has a large cult following. Part of it is because it's the finest under 2l roadster ever sold to the public. Part of it is becaue the car looks fast to most people and they want to experience it.
--------------------------
Civic's are great little cars, but don't most Civic owners have a Civic only because they can't afford an Accord? PLEASE NOTE the word "most" in that statement. We've owned a CRX Si and a Civic Si, loved them both, and have never had any desire to own an Accord, but *most* Civics are sold as economy cars, to people who would be buying a more upscale car if they had the excess cash flow.
LOL, nobody ever bought an S2000 because they couldn't afford an Accord.

Wouldn't it make more sense to compare the Civic to the Miata? Isn't the new Civic quick enough to blow the doors off the new Miata, without even working up a sweat. Does anyone here think that matters to someone who wants a reliable little roadster to have some fun with? The Civic may corner harder, stop quicker, accelerate quicker, have a higher top speed, and it might even handle better, but it's not a roadster, you can't put the top down, and for goodness sakes, you can't even do a power slide. Yea, the Civic can be a blast, but it's nothing like the Miata, and there are PLENTY of good reasons to pick the Miata instead, if that's the kind of fun one is looking for. I like Honda engines far better than Mazda engines (except for the rotery), but if I want an low cost roadster, Mazda is the only game in town.

Mr obvious to yous lol

The main reason a Civic is such a good choice for a platform to mod is because they're as common as fleas on a stray dog. Cheap to buy, cheap to mod, hard to beat.
