4.77 and quarter mile question

Xviper and Winsconsin, I used the gear calculator regarding the 4.77 and it stated that on 4th gear, the 4.77 can reach 99.3mph. I have 245/50/16 in the rear now, a bit larger than stock so lets say it can reach 100mph, then that would not require me to shift to 5th gear since I could hit 100. My mph are around 98mph so its not reaching its potential mph for that gear. So the extra shift isn't affecting me at that point.
if not, then you're letting off too soon. you could actually be letting off too soon and this is affecting your time and trap.
also, did you have the larger rims/tires when you ran the first time at the track?
all this is pointless. bottom line is that you're driving skills and shifting speed are your bane at this point. I'm not sure how much more we can clarify this? just practice!! and WATCH THIS VIDEO!!!!

I do admit when I do shift I push down the clutch close to the floor. I never shifted to 5th gear when I went down the quarter mile.
Rims are the same as last year.
There was humidity that day. Mostly every day here in florida, we have decent humidity levels.
Ill work on the shifting, I just thought since last year I got similar times, that something else could have been wrong with the car.

I ran my best time as 14.09@101.94mph with a 2.11 60' time, and with my only mod over stock being a drop in K&N air filter. My 60' was okay, and my trap speed was good... so the only thing that must have kept me from doing better was my shifting. I've actually cut as low as a 2.04 60' time however, but due to slow shifting, my ET was still a 14.2xx.
Running a good quartermile is all about a good launch and good shifting. There are no turns, so there really are only 2 things you need to concentrate on doing well. If you get a good launch, but shift slowly... you get bad times. And since gears cause you to make an extra shift, they can cause your times to stay around the same as stock.
Are there people in here that were running in the 13.8-14.0 range stock that have since gotten gears? I'm sure there are. What kind of improvements have you guys noticed?
