I thought I was alone too. I've had a gear pop out before, but can't really remember what gear it was, probably fourth. But it's only happened a few time, and when the revs are low. I couldn't figure it out at first. But I have the tendency to rest my left foot on the clutch if I know I'm going to be shifting a lot. Not hard enough to depress the clutch, but just kind of lightly resting the foot on it. I though this is what was causing the gear pop out at first. But after reading all these posts, I think it maybe something mechanically wrong with the tranny? But it doesn't happen often so I haven't really thought about bringing it up to the dealer (I try to avoid dealers at all costs for obvious reasons).

I'd like to hear from those who are getting it fixed as we speak. Is this going to be a formal TSB? I hope so, because the tendency of most dealers is to pretend like there is no problem and make it seem like you're imagining things.

I just talked to the dealer. He is acting like they have fixed it. I will see in two hours... Mine popped out about 30 times so I needed something done. I wanted it to be under warranty. The longer I wait the harder it would be to get there attention.

I had 4th gear pop-out and it was only when cruising steadily @ 40-50 mph in 4th. It happened all the time and I had begun to make sure I held it in place or avoided this 4th gear/speed scenerio. By the way, it never happened during excelleration or decelleration. Only @ steady speed.

Anyway, I began to feel that changining driving habits and having to pay special attention to this problem (very annoying and sometimes embarrasing with others in the car) was pure bull sh**.

Wen to the dealer, they pulled the trans and replaced "alot of stuff" as they put it. Took them 2 days.

What a joy to not have the problem in the back of your mind, and I believe that it shifts more precisely now. A little notchy again until broken in again they say. See your dealer. They should do the right thing and you'll be happy!!!

Side Note: The mechanic said that the trans., although quite skinny & long (compared to the FWD cars he usually works on) was so light that one guy can carry it! Also, I had to wait until this mechanic came back from vacation because he was the only one at the dealer qualified/trained to do this job. I appreciated that!

I''ve had first gear pop out, but that's only happened once. Hopefully, it won't be a re-occuring thing.

I agree that if this is a problem, a TSB should be written up for it. Seems to be happeneing to a lot of people lately. I wonder if what Takashi said about the gearbox not holding up is true, and that it will eventually be a problem for all of us.

Why don't people use the search function, I found three earlier threads about this.

pop gear 2
pop gear 3

Well bad news for me and the hope of that dealership ever getting any of my future business. I just talked to them as I prepare to leave work to pick up the car as they said I could. After the car being in the shop for the past week while they waited for parts(so they say). I'm now informed that they are unable to find a problem with forth gear and it's supposed popping out, But there could be a problem with third.
I'm fit to be tied. Why can't these people just tell the truth. I hope Honda is paying attention to this site. I have not had a single problem with eight other Honda's I've had. It seems to me that many dealers are not capable of dealing with S2000 problems.

And that is why I despise dealerships. Unfortunately, we don't have a choice. Too bad warranty repairs can't be repaired at independent mechanics (of our choosing).
