AmigaOS

As stated above, my dealer fixed it, and my problem is gone. Your dealer is full of sh*t.

Despite the distance, you may wanna refer to my dealer for back-up that the problem IS REAL. They are Northwest Honda in Owings Mills, Maryland @ 410-363-8700.

And Ronald,

I checked the previous threads that you informed us about. No one (except one who claims nothing short of a complete trans replacement will do) had received a solution. So a search would be an exersise of futility IMO. Does that answer your question

Thanx Gary, I will do just that.

Ronald,
Now that I've cooled a bit

I too did the search on 4th gear, pop & popout long before this thread.... Resulting in a big blank.....

Being helpful and not pointed would be cool!

He if you reread the thread you see I gav pointers. But someone (I cannot find it anymore) said that he couldn't find any info. I only gave these as a reference to everybody. Well I don't think it's a futile search. It's always better to know that you're not the only one with that problem. It opens the possibility to ask the people directly who did write in the previous threads whether they have found a solution. I received in the past a PM from someone this way. Sorry didn't mean to sound condescending in any way.

Ronald,

No problem here Actually, in alot of cases, topics and discussions do tend to repeat themselves when searches aren't performed. But you never know when a new twist can be revealed

Ronald,
All is cool here... You know how we S2000 owners are about our cars, and given the fact that my dealer seems clueless feathers can seem ruffled.

Gary,

you're quite right, but there are so many users (almost 4000 now!) that don't know it. I don't mind the same topics coming up, else there wouldn't be that many threads. But often you don't get the right people to read the new thread. If you look at older threads it's faster to identify people who had the same problem or question in the past and a PM will often work wonders.

S2000 4th gear!
I made it into my dealer after work and had a little sit down with the head tech working on my S2000. He was good at giving me the details while showing a little grudge towards the attention the S2000 is getting. He was quick to say that it is not a Viper, Vette, Mustang GT or any other American mussel car, nor was it designed to be driven like one. In his experience he has seen evidence that S2000 owners think they are (i.e. worn rears at 4 to 7k/bad trans. due to missed gears and the likes) however there is no such evidence of this behavior in your S2000.

What they did:
1. Replaced third and fourth gears
2. Replaced the sync between those gears
3. Replaced the gear rail

how should i convince my dealer that there is a problem without letting them keeping my car for a couple days for the techs to drive it around like a leisure car ?

They are having a hard time duplicating the problems.

Print all the threads from this site and take them with you to the dealer. When I showed up with them the tech could only say Wow I can see you know what you are talking about and have done your research. There is nothing like the facts to get your point across.

I have to modify my previous comment. After explaining the the wife what the rev limiter is and how it behaves, she considers it likely that what actually happened is that she hit the rev limiter in first gear rather than having it pop out. I have never seen a pop out on my 2000 before, so I suspect that is what happened.
