We had a local owner here in SD that had his car parked outside during a rainstorm. When he started driving the car the next day, it sputterred and stalled mere feet from his driveway.

It seems threr is an engine compartment drain that is positioned right above the filter element. It dripped right onto the filter and filled the tube with water. The tube/filter point upward so there is nowhere for the water to go, but just sits in the lower tube.

So.......its not just sbout avoiding puddles. Be careful!
i've only heard of people driving through standing water experiencing hydrolcock, but as Houston has been hit with rainstorm after rainstorm, i'm curious enough to test that theory for my own knowledge.

i'll probably wrap the filter of my V2 with shop towels and then simulate rain over the area with a hose.

details to come...

Maybe someone can inform me as to why the AEM V2 points upward by the filter. Seems a funny design as this would welcome water to seep through the filter and into the intake pipe. I am no design engineer so I am sure there is a good reason but this sure makes the system prone to creating problems...

Some people have either plugged that engine bay drain hole.....................or built a little umbrella/shroud to cover the filter element.

Both help.

It was actually me that hockey is talking about and yes I had about a solid half GALLON of water sitting in my tube and I didnt even drive it. The car was just sitting in my driveway during heavy rain so I would say be very carefull. I got it fixed now I actually just electrical taped the holes over the intake and seems to work fine. I was very surprised that the tube sits upwards kinda seems like a design flaw on AEM's part but who knows.
