air cleaner element change?
I knew he was talking about engine air filter, and I said it does not need to be replaced with new one yet, just clean it with a shop vac. But somehow the cabin filter get dirtier quicker than engine filter and it is needed to be cleaned or replaced at every 10k-15k miles.
Unlike the OP, I am not insisting on keeping each and every part of my car stock. I merely want to keep it so it can be EASILY CONVERTED back to stock. One of the very first things I did when my '01 was almost new was to replace the stock engine air filter element with a K&N. I could tell it was less restrictive, by blowing into the 3" pipe end of each filter. I noticed no difference in sound, and very little difference in performance (primarily in the area of low rpm torque). But I did start getting .5 to 1 more mpg in fuel economy right after installing the K&N. With the price of gas now, that may be reason enough to change.
Thanks,
Richard

I don't think of the Engine Air Filter as an element but do think of the cabin filter as a filter element...my mind works in mysterious ways...
I have the the K&N FIPK Box & Filter - so can't make a recommendation as to replacement of the OEM but I may have the K&N Cone Filter that canreplace the OEM piece somehwere in my garage...
