Hi Pinky

I had no idea that you were using the $35 PAC adaptor when I started this thread. It seems to me that we all make a buck, that's how we afford our S2000s. It also seems to me that there are at least two ways to view our fellow S2000 owners, as a community of information sharing, or as a market to sell to and profit from. If you are making $100 per adaptor you sell to us, that's fine. Sooner or later, now that we know that the PAC adaptor is the heart of your product, I'm sure there are enough technical adepts on this board to figure out the programming of the remote and sharing that with the rest of us. There will probably be some folks who will simply want to pay Circuit City or their installer the $150, or pay you the $150 instead of doing it for themselves. However, as our knowledge base grows, there will undoubtedly be those who are willing to take a shot at this for ourselves. I know you don't want to see your fellow S2000 owners "get burnt." Maybe you could share some of your expertise when those of us who are willing to try run into some problems. It seems to me that PAC's instructions are pretty complete, including their special instruction for enabling the "mute" function by using a 2.7k ohm resistor and attaching the yellow/blue wire to energize a relay to the head unit's mute input. In any case, when you profit from your community, and your profit margin becomes known, it must be discomforting. After all, we are strangers, but we are also a community which shares information. Some share it. Some sell it. This is America, both paths are acceptable.

Just my $150.

Ha ha, and you wondered why I've always refered to it as Pinky's Audio Controls!

I was wondering when this cat would get out of the bag.

Seriously, Pinky's product is the PAC product, wired to your radio's harness, and a female version of the Honda audio plug, with the mod for the different resistance, and the relay for the mute all preconfigured. Oh, and he also pulls the sticker off.

Why didn't I mention this earlier? Well for one thing the PAC product is a wholesale product which, for our application, is incomplete. Pinky adds the necessary mods and wiring to make it a finished product (and lets not forget ripping that sticker off). Also, Pinky found this, tried this, changed that, and modified the other. He has a right to profit on this due to his earlier entrepreneurial investment.

Could you do it yourself? I know I could! But would I bother? Probably not. You'd have to source the Honda plug, wire it up to the PAC device and your new harness, work out the changed resistance, work out the wiring of the relay ya da ya da!

On the price? I don't know. Pinky says he's not making much, but that's what I tell all my clients and they don't drive S2000's . Twist his arm, get your radio at the same time at a good price all pre-wired. I got my radio and PAC for $AUD1200 (and a lot of tha was freight and duty). In Aus this head unit costs $1100. So I got the PAC for $AUD100 ($US50), and zero hassles.

Oh, and you think this is shocking, you just wait till you find out the wholesale price on the Paxton Novi 1000 supercharger which is the main component of the Comptech system. I've got my hands over my ears in anticipation.

Its not 35 dollars its not 40 its more like close to 50 with shipping from Cali. then add (all regular pricing out of our shop)your Honda adapter 15.99 a second Honda adapter to get more wires 15.99, relay and harness 10.99, 5 dollars misc. crimp caps, tape, solder(if used), wire ties, shipping within the US averages 12 dollars. I am to stressed out right now to do the math.

Yes I do take the sticker off. THIS IS MY MOD! PAC has their instructions WRONG! Plus I know how to make the mute lead work with non mute lead equipped radio's.

2x6spds if after reading all my reply's this is still not enough for you I will see if I can sell you the mod only! Just as it comes from them. Just please do not look to me to help with the installation or such. I will have given you every chance and reason in the world to pay the extra to have me do the mod with my informed and experience knowledge.

Each mod needs to learn the individual radio your using and what buttons you wish to have control what. Please click my sig. for more information.

When I sell a radio with the mod the cost is reduced by 20 dollars since I do make some money on the radio as well but is usually as low or lower than whats in your local shop or some shops on the net.

Is all that worth your 150 bucks. I think its a bargin.

Pinky, no offense meant to you at all. I thought I stumbled on a good thing for all of us. I had no idea you got there long before. Obviously, it's more involved than just ordering the part from PAC. PAC said they sell the unit for $34.11 less 5% on orders of 20, and include free shipping. That's $32.11 each. Like I said, I had no idea that you based your mod on the PAC unit. I still might order through you, if that's OK with you. I'm going to wait a bit and see if any of the techno wizards on this board come up with an easy way to use the PAC. The advantage is not only in the adaptor price, but in the price of a compatible head unit. Serious discounts are available out there. Between the PAC unit and the discount on a high end head unit, there could be more than a couple of steak dinners for 2 at the Palm on the table here.

Please don't take offense about this. Truly, none is intended. With knowledge, we can all make our own cost/benefit analysis here. It may be that at the end of the day, buying an adaptor and head unit from you is the best way to go anyway.

Peace

Good luck, Pinky!

Pinky,

At a group buy for $100 shipped, I'll take your "bargin"!!!

Let me know how you want to do this. I'm at: sl_richards@hotmail.com

Thanks for your effort on this! I'm sure the price is well worth it.

Cheers,

Good luck, Pinky!
I understand 2x6spds. Though as I said above its not just 35 bucks. Its much more than that. But all that is listed above. I really wanted to keep what I based my mod on hush hush because I did so much work to get it to a production format. Its like giving out your sorce code to a computer program. Nobody wants to give it out. Its usually based on another program but you make it into your own and sell it under your own name! AKA: Pinky's Mod.

Thanks for your understanding. I compliment you on your find but I had a year and a half almost on you.
