When you go to a car stereo shop, you buy a car stereo and try to install it yourself or you can pay to have it installed. Some of us will pay, and some of us will install it ourselves.
It's the same with the dash controls. You pay extra for the technical labor involved, or you can do it yourself.

So quit complaining!

Pinky a few questions:
I dont understand something on your web site... the pink eye that will be dark blue..... do you have to mount the remote for stereo in a seen spot, or can it be hidden and just a tiney eye is seen?
I just had A/D/S speakers and PG amp installed to factory unit with a hi/low converter... will switching head unit w/your mod pose a problem with new wiring harness?( since wires were cut)
thanks

The pink eye was an older mod. I have not gotten a digital camera to take new pictures yet. That eye will be dark blue and is all that needs to be showing to make the mod work. It has to be showing enough transmit at all times to the front of the radio where the reciever is on the radio. It differs from radio to radio. Mine is pretty far back. A Sony that has the fold down face and has 2 sensors one for face down and one for face up its tough since they are on opposite sides of the radio!

As for the install of the PG amp. I assume that they would not have cut the wires. I would hope they would only tap the wires and just run new wires into the doors and cap off the factory wiring in the door so it dosent ground. If they cut(cringe) the wires then as long as you are still going to use the amp to power the speakers VIA new RCA wires from the new radio there should be no problems at all. As long as Power/ground/and the rest of the wires are still intacted and they didnt cut the dash controls wire or the Mute lead wire then you should be fine.
Clear? Prob not. Hopefully so.

The transmitter is on the inside of the door, so it doesn't matter whether it's open or closed.

In most installations it quite easy to locate the transmitter, but for the Sony it was a little more tricky.

Pinky,

I don't have an S2000 now, but I do plan to go lookin' for one soon. When I do, one of the first things I plan to change is the radio/speakers. I have a radio in mind. The link for it is here.

Do you think you would be able to make your mod work with this radio if I shipped it to you?

The only problem with that radio is the number of controls.

The Neos use a joystick arrangement to navigate the thousands of tracks on their hard drives.

I'll set mine up for Volume up and down, the mode button for change source, and the channel button for next track or station. You'll still have the stereo flap open often to navigate all your tracks though.

I feel bad for Pinky, because he's clearly against the ropes here. The trouble is that eliminating the middleman is downright patriotic in america. It's great!

And Pinky, if you want to stay ahead of the pack, find a good multi-function joystick that can replace the OEM dash controls.

As i understand it, this is how pinky makes a living? i.e. the aftermarket radio industry etc.etc. Then he should place a markup...this is how he makes money. Do you go to a friends bar and expect everything to be free? If you do, i feel sorry for your friends. He's not going to give away answers to something he came up with. You always pay for labor and man hours...if you can't deal with it learn to do it on your own...but don't knock the guy for charging in order to make profit...he doesn't have to do crap for anyone. by helping others out he can charge for the services. Personally i could careless about my radio but if i did go aftermarket i would definately go through pinky simply for plug and play. Do it yourself'ers...guess what...you can do it yourself.
