Default Almost a 2nd gear over rev....

I was driving on the AC Express... and i was cruizingdoing prob about 55-65 and I wanted to downshift to fourth and take off... but i pulled a little bit to far left on the shiter and threw it in second by accident. Good thing i just didnt dump the clutch, but i did start to let it out slowy and the tach started to jump. It prob went up to about 6-7k before i could push the clutch in. Do you think i caused any damage. It drives just like it did before...?.... anyone ever do this before?

Yes, been there done that

You will be fine if you didn't get over 8200 or 9000, depending on your MY.

that's why revmatch feathering is probably best. another technique to not misshift is to downshift into 3rd only, 1st nearly impossible to get in, 5th is safe. i dunno

If he revmatched properly then he probably would have overrevved since the revs would already be at high rpms to match the 4th gear/roadspeed.

good idea, i will not downshift into 4th, only into 3rd.

You figure if you're in 5th or 6th and need to downshift...as long as you're under 90 mph, shifting into 3rd would be safe.

If you're above 90mph and need to downshift into 4th...hmm...be very very careful.

I did the same thing, you only do something like that once.

For what it's worth -
MY-00 > 03, stock size rims & tires, speed @ 8900RPM:
1st - 44 MPH
2nd - 67 MPH
3rd - 93 MPH
4th - 119 MPH
5th - 142 MPH
6th - Who cares?

So, If you were doing 55-60 and dropped into 2nd you'll be OK - just barely

Allow the shifter to do the work for you. It will automatically centre itsself between 3rd and 4th when you let it into neutral. at this point you gently bring it straight back into 4th.

And WPS - 1st gear is extremely easy to get into. There is a mountain road out west of here, where it is just a series of switchbacks. I'll go down into 1st (heel-toe) on every corner... lots of fun!
