Be enthusiastic. Tell them that you love the car, but feel that those add on's take away from it's beauty (ok, a bit heavy bit you get the point)and was not part of the original agreement. Try and negotiate a stock w/ stock price MSRP or below. 02's will be here soon, it's end of summer, economy's down- all this is in buyers favor.

When I bought mine, the dealer had 4 in stock with these same options and markups. I waited for one off the truck (2 weeks) and got a car with 2 miles on her and no spoilers.

If they refuse, remain professional. Tell them it's unfortunate that you couldn't come to terms and will continue shopping.

Try not to get wrapped up in the emotion game. It's the only one the dealer has and really not very effective unless we let it be.

First I would tell them what the list price for those add-on items were, and then what I could get it at say, HandA for. Then ask them, why their prices are so much more expensive. Ask them to break it down to cost of the part and cost of the installation. I believe one of two things will happen:

1. the dealer will be forced to acknowledge that they are charging way, way more than you could get elsewhere, at which point, if I were them, I'd feel pretty stupid having to admit that.

2. the dealer will say their parts prices are the same as outside, which means he'll have to admit that they charge ridiculously high install rates, which, again, if I were the dealer I'd feel pretty ridiculous having to admit that.

Ask them how much it would be if you were to order the parts from HandA and bring them over to have them install it. If he quotes you the same install price, then that dealer is a crook. If you get quoted a different install price, then he will be forced to admit that somewhere in there he's "hiding" the markup.

Make them squirm, make them fess up to their crooked ways, let them know that they can't cheat and lie to their customers and get away with it.

I saw Yellowsky posting to another thread and it sounded like he had made a purchase.

Is it true?

Would the dealer be insisting because he was buying a car with these already on to sell on to Yellowsky?
If you insist on not having them then perhaps he has to source a whole new car for you without the addons bolted on.

Like I suggested back in July on this thread go to Priceline and give them your price. Unless you like to dink around with schmucky dealers or want the satisfactiuon of the chase this is the simplest way to go. And you still can take your car back to one of the schmucks and gloat as mentioned above......
