Default another method to remove crankshaft pulley

a guy who works at a shop gets his crankshaft pulley this way
he leaves the car on the ground and have someone press on the brakes hard
while some one else will just take out the crank shaft pulley with a breaker bar
oh yeh he puts it in 5th gear
will this work?
except we put on the emergency brakes all the way up since ours is RWD
the idea works that since ur in gear and the wheels do not move the crankshaft will not move
is this bad?

I'm not sure about that one. Is it really that difficult to get the right tools? A first time pulley removal can take anywhere from 200-600 ft/lbs of torque to remove. I'm not sure if I'd want to transfer that stress to the gearing.

You can skin a cat that way, but I guarantee the cat won't like it...
Your car won't like it, and it'll let you know.
