I'll likely still call Honda corporate to let them know it is NOT just 2006+ models (per the Tech Line bulletin).
Is there really a tech bulletin for this? I thought there wasn't, which is why some people were having such trouble convincing their dealership and Honda that there's a problem.

Yes. It's for 2006+ only though. And a Tech Bulletin isn't even as significant as a TSB.

Another S2KI member who works at a dealer sent it to me.

It will only show up for 2006 and beyond.

FYI, they don't have to do anything for you. It's merely a notification to dealers that "this is a problem we've heard about".

Go check for the metal burrs right now. If you have them, file them down and then paint over it.

I just got my top approved to be changed under warranty. What are some of the specifications I should mention when I bring my car in tomorrow? I know a specific part of the bar needs to be shaved, is there anything else? Also, after I pick it up, what should I note to make sure the top was done correctly? Thanks.

Just bought a 2005 with 6k miles. Where can I put some tape or something to prevent the tearing?

After about two weeks of waiting, the top finally came in. Dropped the car off this morning, and they're actually taking it to a local place that specializes in convertible tops and car interiors.

They need two days to do it (lame!) but at least that way I know they're doing it right and aren't rushing the job. Good thing I take public transportation to work...dealer doesn't give out service loaners.

i have an inch-long tear on my MY03. i just discovered it today; passenger side.

i bought some TEAR-AID for $11.00 shipped on eBay. i searched and have found some good results from it. i'm also going to inspect the soft top frame for the culprit and see if i can do anything about it. hopefully it's just a sharp edge that i just have to file down.

will post results after.
