Any recommendations for an air intake system?
Just finished my V2 intake install. It took me a lot longer then i expected. Started at 3am and finished around 6:30am. Aside from the rather difficult installation (for an intake anyways) and battle scars on my limbs, i give this intake a big thumbs up. To be honest, i wasn't really looking for any power gain with this mod and was quite surprised to actually feel a little difference between stock and v2. Based on what i've heard on this forum, there really isn't anything you can do to the car to add power without going FI. While that is somewhat true, i believe that there can still be minimal improvements squeezed out of the stock system. Plus, the intake just sounds freaking cool
.
Things that i like about the V2:
-Better throttle response. Rev matching couldn't be easier.
-Better sound (subjective)
-Not sure if there is a power gain or if my butt dyno is inaccurate in early mornings, but there just seems to be a more linear pull to the power band. Top end feels better flooring third gear and nearing redline.
-Saves alot of space in the engine bay. Also, the intake looks alot better in the engine bay in person than in pictures.
Things i don't like about the V2:
-Prone to hydrolocking. Although the filter is pretty high up in the bumper, you've got to be a real dumbass to completely submerge it. Don't really have to worry too much about rain in socal also.
-Install requires cutting of the fender liner. Not a worry. You can still return to stock but it just won't look as pretty.
Intake was well worth it. I recommend it if you guys don't have to worry about driving in the rain or have beater cars to drive in those situations.
