Most cars that don't have proximity keys today but had start buttons that you'd call true "push button start" cars also had a ton of switches to flip to turn things on. No car was ever just ready to go at the push of a button.

The logic with the S2000 push button is that if you are in the car and do anything to stall, you can shift to first with your right hand while restarting the engine with your left hand, so you can get moving again faster - typically for race conditions.
Don't forget it's a jap car and jap cars are RH drive. So this theory is lame
Almost as lame as you and your inability to think.

If i could just step on the clutch and press start it would be cool. The fact that i have to turn the key as well is kinda gay.

So, you want your ignition ON all the time. Cook your engine wiring 24/7. You want to have to turn stuff on and off like your radio, HVAC every time you get in and out of the car like back in the "old days" of VW. "Gay" must have a different meaning in Jamaica. Here, we would call that "LAME" and mechanically stupid.

I mean, why bother with stepping on the clutch? What a hassle, right?

I love the push start on our cars. There's other luxury cars out there where a key is still needed to be in the ignition before starting.

Oh, I know. I've got a clutch/starter interlock defeat switch so I can crank my starter motor and run the car "full electric". Unfortunately, I can only go about 1/2 mph and only for about 30 seconds at a time before the starter overheats.
