You know that rhd s2000s still have the shifter and starter button on opposite sides of the wheel right?

I've driven my car as cold as -38*C outside. My start button does NOT get sticky in any way, shape or form. Stop throwing your pop into the dash.

The more things change, the more they stay the same................. Like we've never seen this topic before.
Welcome to the last decade. This topic was painful and stupid then. It's painless and stupid now. Did anyone actually think it was new?

So, is it still rice or was it inspired by actual racing history?

Either you guys didn't understand me or don't know that F1 cars don't have keyes, therefor making the start button needed. That Honda F1 car has a real start button and it's great. I love real start buttons. Just not ones that are useless since you have to turn the key anyway. Some really old cars have start buttons so it's not really a new thing nor a big deal. The whole start button thing eventually ended because having the start with one motion of the key with one hand is so much easier and convinient than using two hands to start.. So they disappeared. For awhile. Till just lately since keys now have proxemity sensors therefore making the start button actually useful and now practical. The S2000's push to start is old style, not new style. That's why I say the s2k start button is rice. Cause it is useless and entirely for "cool" factor.

Love my start button. It's part of the car's personality.

I do hate when I get in my wife's car and reach for the start button and it's not there.

One thing I didn't know about F1 is that they have starter motors these days. I guess it's been a few years since I followed racing. I remember F1 cars having complex start routines which required outside assistance. The starter motor itself was a rather large external device. By regulation 5.18, Starting the engine: It must be possible for the driver to start the engine at any time when seated normally at the wheel and without any external assistance. I mis-corrected someone earlier in this thread - my apologies (at least it was a 'soft' correction). Progress, eh?

On the other hand, when the S2000 was developed, F1 cars were started with a lot of external assistance. We are talking about a car from the 90s, after all.

---

S2000,

Give me rawness. Give me inconvenience. Give me noise. Just give me that ear to ear grin every time I drive you.

Sincerely,
Your Driver

PS Thanks for being so reliable.

Is your brother an idiot, or are you a liar? Z8's don't have keyless ignitions, they require a key just like the S.
