Default Anyone have this soft top problem? (PICS)

The last few months, my soft top started coming apart from the inside. The stitching from the inside seems to be ripping apart more and more as the months went by. I did a search and couldn't really find anyone that has had this problem. BTW, my car has 47k miles and is always garaged.

I called up Honda Care, but my warranty doesn't cover tops. They directed me to Honda America and it is possible they may or may not fix it. Got a case number and brought it to a dealership as instructed to have it checked out. The service facilitator there said the district service manager will have to take a look at it too to see if they will repair it or not, which is in a few weeks. They didn't seem too happy about the idea of replacing it.

Anyways, here are the pics. I'm curious if anyone else had this problem too.

Here is an outer view of it. Kind of hard to see in the pic, but the seams are actually a lot wider than the other side.

For comparison, this is the other side of my top, where there aren't any issues.

Kind of boggles me how Honda designed the frame/material so crappy. Miata tops last like 5 times as longer. My old 15+ year old RX7 convertible top held up better (except for slight fading.) I can deal with a little normal wear and tear (after all, my car is 6yrs old), but when the stitching is coming apart like that already, thats definitely a manufacturing defect. I hope Honda replaces my top.

If all else fails, take your car to a trim shop and have them resew all your stitching.
You could try this yourself and save some bucks. Go to a boating supply/repair shop and purchase a needle a thread used to repair sails. Ask for some tips while your there.
