I chose to kill two birds with one stone It isn't the sexiest install but it is portable (which seems to be the theme). Check out this thread for pics: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...?threadid=26002

I chose to use a Pocket PC with a GPS solution. I have sinced scrapped the velcro and used a cellular phone mounting brack to secure the PDA bracket. I more than pleased with the results. It has virtually eliminated all arguments with my wife in regards to directions Plus it can play MP3's and MPEG's. My wife and I jsut took a trip to San Antonio for my B-day and we played Trivial Pusruit and other games till we got to San Antonio then we loaded the gps software and navigated to our hotel.

I will admit that this was something I thought I would never need, but now that I have it I don't see how I could live without it!

There are a couple of DIN sized nav/radio/cd systems that will drop in like any aftermarket stereo. They are pricey, 1000-2600 but nothing major has to be done. The GPS does need a mounted receiver. Basically you tell it where you're going and follow the voice commands, not big LCD to follow. When I get my hands on one I'll do a detailed breakdown of it.

Personally, I almost never use the navigation (I find it useless) but just installed it for the challange/cool factor. I have an Alpine CVA-1005 for my other car but will not purchase the $1800 DVD NAV system for it...

I just like the motorized monitor, that's all.

I really want a gps system built into my car but I use my laptop with a cheap $100 gps unit and streetfinder plus. Seems to work great and it is nice on a 15" screen but it sucks that it is not all flush mounted and purty looking. O well one of these I will put out the $1k-$4k bucks needed for a nice install. The ones I have seen on the board though look sw33t .
