I've daily driven an '01, an '04, and an '08. None of them are boring and none of them are too much. If I did it all over again, I'd get an '03 - just to get the interior improvements and glass rear window, but keep the 9k rev limit and the overall cost of purchase down. If you need VSA, you shouldn't be driving an s2000 anyway. If you really have track cars like you say you do, then I guarantee you the s2000 will eventually become a track car for you - which means you'll be modifying it in due time - which makes the minimal differences even more minimal. Why not buy a cheaper older version and save some cash to really have fun with it later. If you have been to the track like you say you have, you will end up taking the s2000 there. I guarantdamntee it.
