I drove my 00, an 04 and an 08. Now that I have AP2 trans and a different final drive breaking in, I like my car a lot more. I also like my stock AP1 wheels and tires a lot more than I did my 17x9 RPF1 setup on 255 all around. It just wasn't as fun, I dunno. The car a lot "twitchier" and loose for me on stocks like I should be...and I love it that way. I actually don't even know why I switched to 245/255 setup and didn't just get better tires for my stock wheels. I have to pick up my wheels from Powdertech II this week and I'm not even excited about running wider tires again.

Anyone else feel the same way or am I just insane?

^^^ I feel you all the way... coming from bikes there was always this thing about a bike being better and better and better, when only 1 percent (if that) were ever going to see that type of performance. The pendulum swings like that, but it must (at some point) go the other way. Once it did and people began to come back to their senses "fun" became a reasonable part of the discussion as to why you'd want to own a certain bike. Fun is main the main reason why I have the S.
Man, go have fun, and let the chips fall where they may.

This is what the S2000 is replacing. I modded the car to the extent of a "race car", spending countless hours and time trying to perfect every aspect of the car. What I did not know is I would end up liking the car less and less with each mod I ended up adding. The car is a blast to drive occasionally and beat the S2000's in my class, but I learned what's important is how much fun you are having not how many .xxx you knock off your time. So now I know what I really prefer and not making the same mistake twice.

To roel03, ask yourself this question.
1. Is this your only car?
2. This is your DD car?
3. Do I like more comfortable ride?
Then AP2 is your best choice, but in my situation AP1 is the best choice for me period . AP1 or AP2 is depending on each own unique situation. The only thing that come close to compare betweeen AP1 vs AP2 is Sig Sauer P228 vs P229....... Well, the Sig Sauer situation is easy to solved, I got both.

Bought my new car yesterday. It is an AP1, even though I said I wanted an AP2. I went and drove this car, and immediately fell in love. It is a 2002. Purchased it from an old guy, completely stock. The only mods are AP2 wheels with Toyo Proxes, and Hawk brake pads. I absolutely love the car. No problems, noises, squeaks, or hiccups. It runs like it just came out the factory and has been properly maintained. Even came with the tonneau cover, which I put on for the pics.

Nice, man, she's a beauty. Don't forget to go through the second post in this thread:

Look hard for those spring spacers, they are easy to miss. Put it up on jack stands so you can really see in there. Also valve adjustment and retainer inspection (I had cracked retainers with no symptoms), soft top self-destruct protection and seat locks are good investments.

Thanks for the kind words guys. My only plan was to buy ap2 wheels if I had an ap1, so I was really happy.

I was planning on going through that entire list today, but woke up feeling a little bit under the weather this morning. This weekend I will be going through it one by one though. I'm making my own seat locks tonight and going to buy a syringe to do the clutch fluid.
