AP1 or AP2 S2000?
I had three S2000, first was 2002 AP1, then 2003 AP1 and now currently running 2006 AP2.
1.) Which one is more fun to drive on a daily basis? It comes down to your individual driving ability and knowledge of road condition. AP1 are much like an older Porsche without computer aids and so it feels raw, to some people is a piece of haven and others a bad taste entirely as simple as due to lack of skills. AP2 are more refined as Honda continually improves overall function from F20 to F22 and difference in suspension geometry throughout the years. Raw or Refinement, I choose MY 06 AP2 because I like the feel of electronic throttle and user friendly ability of F22, plus the subtle changes within the interior made it a overall better daily driver for most.
2.) Which is easier to drive? Both AP1 and AP2 are easy to drive. You can spec and tune it however that suits you. If the issues comes down to budget then I suggest AP1. Parts are a little bit cheaper and you can always upgrade to AP2 spec if desire.

But honestly, I didn't know too many differences until I sold my 02 and bought an 06.
The main difference is mostly caused by DBW system. When I just got my ap2, I spent couple months to get used to the delayed, and not all linear reaction throttle response. I gotta say, I hate it. S2000 is in famous of its agility, I feel it gets 60% left with the DBW system on. With conventional throttle, I could know how deep I kicked my gas pedal without computer interference. I know I can do this as well with VSA off on my 06, but still can't get rid of that slow throttle response.
However, it became more friendly to normal drivers. For drivers who are not very good to handle rear wheels spin and some unexpected situation, VSA(vehicle stability assist) absolutely can save some money or even lives.
BTW, the response got way better when I changed to enlarged throttle body. And I drove my friend's CR once, it's equipped with Toda's throttle body and J's computer. In this way you may eliminate DBW throttle delay by 80%.
Despite this throttle stuff, it feels a bit more stable in an ap2 when you drive it. And the chassis changed a bit due to an additional passenger side airbag sensor under passenger seat. No need to mention the extra 147cc of displacement and appearance, everyone can tell.
So, if you have many spin and outta control experiences and you trust you may handle, get an ap1
If this is your first sports car and you just wanna enjoy the ride, get an ap2
Lol I posted a bit too late.. didn't see the pics
Well it's nice! Looks EXACTLY the same as my previous ap1 when I sold it...same color, year, ap2 wheels, and even has the side emblems taken off...
I sold it to FL though, the guy flew to NY and drove it back.
Anyways, congrats

Thanks man. I was wondering why people kept posting AP2. I wanted one, but I bought this car cash and don't need to request a loan as I would with an AP2. This is the first car I bought completely by myself since moving out and going to college so it feels great. It might not seem like a huge accomplishment, but I am really proud of myself. None of my peers could say the same.
Believe it or not, I spend $1000 less buying this than I sold my 240sx last Friday for. (picture or previous car earlier in thread). This car is literally 100x better than that car and I got it for less. That car was completely modified and it is still not a valid comparison.
I absolutely love the car. I haven't driven it since I bought it though because I haven't had a day off to register it and insure it. It helps that everyone that's seen it or driven in it loves it as much as I do. The car really gives you a feeling no other car does.
Black wasn't my first choice when looking at them but now that I look back it's my favorite. I don't have a garage so it really doesn't beg for attention. I installed seat locks last and it was pre equipped with an alarm.

Thanks.
Did the maintenance stuff today. New oil, clutch fluid, brake fluid, coolant, no spring spacers, car has updated banjos by engine number, first carwash and vacuum.
Also bought my first "mod". Ordered the modifry DCI as the controls weren't working with the installed alpine and wheel locks. I need to stop hovering over the for sale section so I don't spend anymore money. I just didn't like half of my dash controls being disfunctional.
Also setup my insurance today. Tomorrow Im getting my tag and can finally drive it whenever I please!
