this auction looks fishy...
The CarFax at this point is useless. The main thing you look for on a CarFax is something like a rebuilt title. Well, he already told us it has one of those. Now if anyone knows someone with access to the ISO insurance database, they could look up how much the claim was done for. That would really tell ya what kind of damge it had.
I doubt any bank would actually lend on that car with it being a salvage title... especially at $18k+++
I am not sure who buys Reconstructed title cars as their street cars..... great for track (except for that stupid body kit).....if it was about $12k...

Seeing lots more highly suspicious car auctions on ebay.
They often look like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...=ADME:B:SS:US:1
No location, unrealisticically low price, they want to have buyers "pre-approve", so they can then correspond with them directly and lure them into some sort of money transfer deposit on a non-existant car...

I e-mailed him and asked about the plastic back window and got this reply:
In the picture of the back end, it shows a plastic back window but S2000's have had a glass one since the 2002 models. Did the top get replaced with an older top with the plastic back window?
I believe it did, but I don't know that before until you guys pointed it out. 'cos I bought the car 2 month ago as a rebuilt title.
Thanks

I asked him the following question:
"Since when does some minor suspension damage
cause a 2003 S2000 to be totaled by the insurance company and receive a salvage title? And why was the top replaced with an '00 or '01 model top? What exactly happened to this car?"
He responded with:
"I don't know what happend to this car. I bought this car as a rebiult title 2 month ago. and drove it ever since. All I know is it works great, and for 18000 it worth the money, becaouse I paid 20000 for it. the reason i'm selling it is because I'b buying a sti off a friend of my, otherwise I would keep the car. but whatever you guys think, this car is as issued on ebay, it has no knowe problems. don't believe it, then come here test drive it yourself."
Still sounds fishy to me.
Most people that drop $20k on a car at least want to know something about what has happened to it.
