Audio Questions!
Hi
I installed an amp and was wondering two things:
1)
The amp is currently behind the seat. Can I drill the amp into the metal in back of the seat? I am worried the gas tank is there.
2)
How bad is having the sub in the trunk? I don't want a box. I am really looking for something that can fit under the seat but cannot find anything. Has anyone tried a bazooka tube in the trunk? How bad was it?
Thanks

I don't know about the amp behind the seat, as far as the gas tank, but you have to worry about heat(the amp needs some air to keep it cool) and the space it will take up. I know my seat is all the way back, so if I put an amp back there, it would take away from an already cramped interior.
Now for the subs. I also had your concerns. I didn't want a huge box taking up all my trunk. But, I got 2 JL 10's installed into the little space in the middle(on the bottom). They took out the tool box and I still have my whole trunk. They simply fiberglassed the enclosure. My amps are on one side of the trunk, out of the way, but you can put them in the space next to the spare tire. Plenty of room there.
Sound is better than I expected. One modification that I would suggest is modifying the plastic panel where the convertible top folds (where everyone is putting towels, or padding to prevent scratches on the window). Because the subs are in the trunk, much of the sound is muffled, or blocked. The stereo shop cut an even opening in it(about 3 feet by 6 inches), and created a soft cover for it. This way, sound travels from the trunk directly into the car, and the soft lining over the hole protects the top when its down. Fixed two problems at once!
