Just had a thought; could it be that American cars in general have auto-down only, is there a safety concern or perhaps some law-suit thing around getting trapped by the window? Someone said that with American S2000's you have to have the clutch depressed for the starter button to work. That's not so with my car. This also smells like a safety thing or law-suit protection. Are there any other known differences of this kind?

I had the same problem, too.
I guess it's not a safety issue....so there was no recall.

Hey, BassMan. I am sure there was a law sue again Honda in a way or Honda is afraid of American law sue. At the end, the customer is the victim of loss features.

I had that problem too. The other problem that started a little while afterwards is when you lower the top, the window won't go down all the way. I had mine fixed the same time I had the grind fix done.

European cars have auto-both-ways driver's windows.

By the way, do not forget that if for some reason you have to remove power to the switch on the driver's side, by either disconnecting the battery or disconnecting the switch plug when removing the door liner, the auto feature ceases operating and must be re-memorized.

To do this you just press down, without interruption, til the window stops, and then you pull up, again without interruption, until it's fully raised. Once you have cycled through this, the auto feature becomes operational again.

I suspect that some people that complain about auto operation failure may have had some work performed on the car that led to this situation.

Oh, that's interesting. Is that in the shop manual? Perhaps i have performed this routine unintentionally now that the window seems to work again. Power was broken for the seatbelt recall, and in that case the shop didn't reset the window switch. As they didn't restore all my radio presets.

Thanks for the info, Luis!

Thats extremely intresting. I'll try it tonight when my wife brings the car home. That might explain the intermitten operation when the car is first started and the window is used. I would hate to think that it was purposefully engineered that way.

As has been stated, the problem is the motor/sensor, not the switch. Took my dealer 2 guesses to get it right. What I discovered is that if you run the window up and down a few times (as you might if you were trying to show someone the problem) the auto function will start to work OK. Then, after just siting for a while (not sure how long), it reverts back to not working. Of course, having an auto function that only works after you have run the window up and down several times manually isn't too useful. So the moral of the story is that, on the morning that you take it to the dealer, don't operate the window until you you are ready to show him the problem.
