Good point about the seat anchor, definitely a must if you are going to use a car seat. I guess you could get one bolted or welded into the vehicle floor behind the seat.

In my situation, the hassle of switching cars is far better than driving around paranoid about getting into an accident. The peace of mind in having them in the back seat of a vehicle would outweigh any hassle of switching vehicles based on my preferences.

I think he is asking how, or if anyone has done it yet

according to an older lady I talked to at a gas station, we have back seats when the car isn't in convertible mode, so CLEARLY, just take the car out of convertible mode and put the baby seat back there

Mildly off topic but I don't recall there being a weight sensor in my either of my '04 AP2 seats when I took 'em apart. Sure you're not thinking of '06+?

you can just rip out the air bag completely or make a on/off switch

I pulled my steering wheel off at one point which made the srs light come on and I never got it reprogrammed.

I can see the need to do this in a pinch (emergency,DD in the shop, etc). I think that once you had the airbag off, there would not be anything overly dangerous about it (no more so than other compact cars).

I think back to how I rode in a car when I was young, and being in an s2k with the aribag off would be MUCH safer!

Uhh, I would not in any way shape or form say the passenger airbag was disabled because the airbag light was on because you removed the steering wheel and even less so if you reinstalled the oem wheel with the airbag.
