Honda defines "right" differently. They intentionally set the VTEC engagement point higher than "optimum" so that it generates a noticeable kick. I think it is a marketing thing. With proper fuel tuning, you can lower the VTEC engagement point 200-500 RPMs (depending on mods) and gain power. The result is that the VTEC engagement is very smooth (no kick).

centrifugal chargers take a little time to build boost, but not as much as a turbo.

roots blowers are best for off idle boost.

a charger WILL help 0-60, but not a whole lot really as you only go through first and part of second. for that second in first you'll make more power, but when you shift you have to wait a little.

the S/C dosent hit full boost until redline and it will not start boosting until about 6500 rpm. a turbo will hit full boost at a much lower rpm. i dont loose boost between shifts cause the engine is still spinning the turbine. there for the S/C does not have much time to do its thing in 1st and 2nd gear.
