Is the diff actually better in the AP2 or do people just think it's better since the CDV won't let people who don't how how to drive shock the drivetrain as much?

The diff in the AP2 is a tad bit stronger. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it has something to do with the end caps.

Its a combination of reinforced diff, CDV, and heavier flywheel imo. Even with removed CDVs, you don't see AP2s with broken diffs though.

I couldn't be happier with my '02 Suzuka
I looked and searched for my car. The color, the interior, and the 03 designation. I wanted a raw car. I didn't want it watered down with added controls or displacement for "easier" city driving. Most of that has to do with how I grew up so it was the right car for me. The real "issues" had been sorted out but the car hadn't been softened up for the masses.
I like the Ap1 Headlights and taillights better than the Ap2's. If I could change anything about them I'd add LED lighting, but I like the simplicity of the two lights and value that more than the LED's in the Ap2. I also Have JDM Ap1 headlights and they by far look better than Ap2's. Simple and uncluttered.
When I first saw the Ap2 bumper I thought it be better looking than the Ap1, but now as I see Ap1's done correctly I'm wavering on that idea. Ap1 styling stands on its own. I can appreciate it and am looking forward to putting my car back to a stock front (came with Ap2 front facia).
I don't know that it's better, but I will say that it is the best of both worlds.

I don't think a week goes by here anymore where some owner of an AP1 posts in UTH about low-oil problems.

With almost 40,000 AP1s on the road for the last 10 years I'm sure some of them are going to have oil problems, especially the ones with high miles and multiple owners who probably drove the piss out the car and didn't maintain it properly.

I've owned 2 AP1s and neither had a problem burning excessive oil.

I like more the ap1 bumber and Light
3/4 off the 2000 change you talk are cosmetic change

ap2 is more easy to drive for the mass
Ap1 is for real driver
But the f22c is a really a great engine

Got my02 ,43k miles

With unknow stealership oil burn 1and half in 3k
With amsoil 5k miles burn 1/3 quart
Really depend on the oil you use

the 09 is easily the most appealing year to me.
I own a 2006.

and ap1s are kinda meh, the 9k redline is w/e. I like the extra torque the f22c gives and its proven to be faster at the wheels.
The dated exterior, dated interior, arguably slower, less reliable, that the ap1s are. eh. but 9k and the rawness!? eh.
9k is what ....lmao thats the funniest thing ive ever seen on this site ...by far ...9k is pure bliss to anyone that uses it as much as I do ...ive driven ap2s and kept hitting the fuel cut off ...total disappointment every shift ...9k makes my car stand out way more than any ap2 imo ...to each his own .To say 9k is nothing means nothing because your as wrong as the day is long

let's compare dyno sheets
