The best? Easy, the 2009 is the pinnacle of Honda engeneering as applied to this model. BTW, I have a 2006 so I'm only 3 years removed from the best. For money spent, my car is only a slight compromise so I'm happy.

Let’s not forget these are just personal opinions. The AP1 lovers have their reasons for liking that model and the same thing goes for the AP2 lovers. I don’t feel one model is better than the other. You can’t go wrong with either one.

My only advice for any potential buyer is to test drive both and see which car’s characteristics you like better. I really hate seeing the AP1 & AP2 folks go back and forth on which car is better. We’re all in this together and have a passion for the S2000.

At the end of the day if hitting that push to start button puts a smile on your face, then obviously you’ve made the right choice.

the 09 is easily the most appealing year to me.
I own a 2006.

and ap1s are kinda meh, the 9k redline is w/e. I like the extra torque the f22c gives and its proven to be faster at the wheels.
The dated exterior, dated interior, arguably slower, less reliable, that the ap1s are. eh. but 9k and the rawness!? eh.
9k is what ....lmao thats the funniest thing ive ever seen on this site ...by far ...9k is pure bliss to anyone that uses it as much as I do ...ive driven ap2s and kept hitting the fuel cut off ...total disappointment every shift ...9k makes my car stand out way more than any ap2 imo ...to each his own .To say 9k is nothing means nothing because your as wrong as the day is long

let's compare dyno sheets

Its not all abt power for me its abt feel , I dont think my car is better ..I like it better . At 9k I know I'm in a class of one. No ap2 made me feel like my ap1 ...9k all the way for me ..its so exciting to see that line sweep all the across the dash ..all the way to 9k ..I LOVE IT !!

Two good posts. Imo anyone who thinks Honda didn't continuously improve the car over its run, and that the latest S2000s from 09 were the best, is delusional. That doesn't mean you have to prefer the latest models though.

Well with the LFA and Ferrari 458 being the others, I'd say AP1's are in good company.
