And when was the last time I did anything like that Aus? (Hint Years Ago)

As opposed to all the people who have acted badly THIS thread.

Beig,

See my sig. Had to say I agree with you totaly. Besides, this thread has been fun to read - I was at that point in my day where I needed a break and a good laugh (BJs and Fake Tit threads and how some folks get so worked up over this modding issue)!

hehe... this whole thing is pretty funny. That post, IMO is a troll dressed up as "public service"

Everyone here is free to agree or disagree. Period.

If you don't want your posts to get critcized, don't post. Especially with such a provacative title.

Feel free to criticize me for this post - it doesn't diminish me in any way. :-)

I must admit the general premise of the post makes sense though - if you bought this car with the intent of reselling it. I'm going to keep mine for a long time so I'm going to just enjoy the use of it.

Obviously, many owners are looking beyond just resale value...

I'm not having a go at you (for a change). I'm merely pointing out why IMNSHO your seemingly innocuous and valid thread induced some vitriolic responses. History (and possibly the fact that you've never acknowledged the sins of the past).
The only difference between now and then is that I fought back against all the flamers who didn't want to hear another point of view. I was just as nasty to them as they were to me. Then they all cried to cthree.

I WILL acknowledge that I should not have jumped in and responded to the threads dedicated to mods. That was a mistake. I talked to cthree and hondagal back then and resolved the issue. I have not done it since.

..and yet I post a thread showing an anti-mod point of view and look what happens. All the flamers come to my thread to hi-jack it and start trouble.

BTW I did not know I had to confess my "sins" to YOU. Exactly what is your official role on this board? Hell you are not even a member.

You don't, and nobody said you did. I simply pointed out that this attitude of 'I didn't do nuffin' is why you get vitriolic responses. You asked, I answered.

I'm a participant.

We all know what your role is.

I don't recall asking YOU anything.

Does the phrase "Either put up or shut up" mean anything to you?

With all you have to say about me all the time you think you might want to dig into your pockets and contribute a couple of bucks to help keep this forum running.

Whatever role you want to insinuate I play here at least I am not cheap.

True to form. Ask a question, don't like the answer so you get personal. Good to see some things haven't changed.

This thread has really degenerated into a pissing match. All of the participants are guilty. This is unfortunate because it had the potential to be a nice, thought provoking, discussion.

I tend to agree with Bieg concerning modifications. In my opinion, the fewer, the better. I'm not sure that I'd go so far as to say that my car belongs to the future generations and I am only a guardian of it, but I do feel that I own a "mass produced work of art". I tend to like my S just the way it is, my only mods are rear speakers and a stick on clock (on the radio door). Who knows what the future will bring in terms of value, but I do know that I love going to car shows and admiring the absolutely stock MG-TDs (my favorite) that I see. If I had another garage space I'd buy one just to own and preserve it. That is how I feel.

The other side to this, of course, is that there are many, many people out there who believe that their cars are "works in progress", and their mods are the additions that will make it the work of art. For them that is fine, and they have every right to do and feel what they do.

I recently had an interesting discussion with an older gentleman who collects 1960s and 1970s American cars. He restores them and likes them in original stock condition. When I suggested that the people who have "hotrodded" cars over the years have ruined them he stopped me short. He said that what they've done was to create what their vision of the car was. To him, that was as reasonable as restoring the car to stock. Each one of us must relate to the car as we see it.

All of that having been said, lets stop flamming and continue this discussion.

Aus,

I thought you and I agreed a long time ago to steer clear of each other as we obviously don't like each other's styles. You went out of your way to post a personal attack in this thread rather than deal with the topic of the post. I did not search out any of your threads and try to start trouble in them or get personal with you. In fact in one of your threads I believe I contributed a solution to problems people were having with the electronic part you let us know about. (Aux Input on stock head unit) or something like that if I recall.

Point is I did not search you out and try to attack you in a personal way. You searched me out. I was perfectly content with remaining civil towards you.

Let's stop this sh1t right now agreed?
