buy now or latter?

I've had to wait about 2 yrs to get my s but I was prepared to wait longer. I still think I jumped the gun a little too fast but I'm happy to enjoy the car NOW..
If I were u I would at least try to get an 02-03 with about 80k miles..its pretty affordable. Ap2 looks nicer and newer there's no doubt about it but ap1 still looks good u can't go wrong either way.

my only reasoning behind the ap2 was wanting something with lower miles and newer to DD, but im not worrying so much about that now... i could afford the ap2 but it would be tight
so an ap1 with 70-80k for sub $10k that needs some minor work is pretty appealing...
just worried like Future is aying that i ll end up swith something that im not 100% happy with...
thanks for all the input guys,

an ap1 for less than 10k is gonna need more than minor work or have more than 80k miles.
like someone said, you can always buy a cheap ap1 and sell it in a year or 2 and pick up a newer ap2.

Remember...being a perfectionist has no place with used cars. Just find one that makes you happy for a good price and make it better! A well cared for 2002-2003 is the best S2000 for the price.

from an AP2 owner, I'd get the AP1 now. I still like my AP2 better, but nothing like the present time Seriously dont buy a POS though (cheap car), I would look for an 02-03 with lower miles and be satisfied.

Assuming you're prepared to buy any time between tomorrow and 2 years from now, you're in the best possible situation. You can afford to shop until you find a really good deal... you're in no hurry and are willing to wait a couple of years for an AP2 if a great deal on an AP1 doesn't come along first.
Either way, you win.

I had a 2000 and I put about 90k miles on it. I loved it. Anyway, then I quit S2000s for a few years and the SCCA came out with a class for street tire S2000s and I just had to try it out. I bought a 2006. It kinda was a let down. I didn't enjoy DBW even though it wasn't readily obvious. It was sort of more of a numbness to the throttle application. It was subtle but real. What the hell with the 8200 rpm redline? That didn't get much better when I put the Flash Pro on it. 8800 rpms didn't sound healthy.
Anyway, I just bought an AP1 with 76k for 9300 and I feel like it was a great deal. There is some paint work but it's very clean. It's got a new plastic window roof (which I love). Maybe I'm sentimental. 9000 rpms is also hard to beat. Get up to 9000k in 2nd gear and you're moving.
My vote: AP1. I'm stoked. I think it has more personality.

I own a ap2, i love it, but i just feel DBW and VSA ruined the racing soul the ap1 original has. and 9k rpm is tempting.
So its all personal at the end, if you want a safe sports car that has good handling, AP2 is fine. If you want a crazy sports car that is a bit hard to tame, get a early AP1
