I am looking at a couple of '01's s2's and one '02 s2's. I know they re-worked the gear box and put in a glass rear defroster in the 2002. But what should I look for in both models. Is it worth going for the '02? Tips and concerns.Thanks

The best thing about the rear glass window is not the added defroster. That plastic window can easily scratch and scuff. If you get an '01 with a plastic window that has been neglected, then expect to spend some time polishing that thing with Plexus plastic polisher. The good thing about the glass is it's a million times easier to keep clean and clear. Plus the glass won't crease like the plastic! Don't forget that the '01 also comes with carpet around the shifter while the later models come with vinyl (some claim it's leather.) It can give the interior a "cheaper" feel. Look up the TSBs for the '01 especially, and make sure they've been done to the car. Test drive and make sure the shifter doesn't grind into second. Some owners seem to have a problem with this. Also be sure to check the tread depth of the tires. The early MY S2k's came with Bridgestone S02s that have an average life of 10000 to 12000 miles, and they are not cheap to replace. You should go with the newest model possible IMO.

i'd get the MY02....search for differences in MY but the glass window is enough for me to pop for the MY02.....oh and never settle, get exactly what you want and have no regrets
